I've only taught for 4 years but I've had 3 parents request a different teacher. One actually was switched - the other 2 requested it at the heat of a moment. Granted these were difficult parents with children who had behavior issues and were academically low (I even tutored these kids once a week after school for free). I rarely hear of this issue from other teachers. This is such a hurt for me because I give my all and am my own harshest critic. Does this happen to you - is it very common?
Bev-MI I had a long post but it dissappeared. Here goes another try.

Don't let it get you down. Most of the time is is the result of kids complaining at home and then moms talking to each other. Strengeth in numbers...So let them move and consider yourself lucky to change the feeling in your room.

Anonymous for Obvious Reasons Don't feel bad. It happened to me last year. The student in question had solid 3's and 4's. It was the parent who had an issue with me. She felt I was "intimidating". 3rd Grade Teacher arents like this most often are hearing just the partial truth at home. I had a parent last year who came to the school up in arms because I "slammed the door on her daughter's arm."
