Does anyone have a great lesson for introducing/working on fractions with third graders? It's observation time again. Hands on, using technology (internet but no promethian board), higher level thinking, of course. Thanks!
3rd grade teacjer If you teach Saxon Math, using pattern blocks and two-sided counters are a great way to teach fractions. With the counters, each student gets a handful. They shake them gently and drop them on their desks. The teacher asks for volunteers to share their ratios - how many yellow and how many red, then making a fraction from their ratio.
