I am what I consider a very experienced teacher. How do I deal with the fact that a first year teacher gave one of my old students a passing grade of a 'C' at report card time. This is a student who will not work in class and has a history of performing at a low level. He is about four grade levels behind. What's sad is that the parents have a false sense of hope, and are not getting an accurate report of how low their child really is. The teacher is having a very difficult time controlling his class, and I find it very difficult to believe that the student magically made up four years of lost learning. I am really upset and want to see some of the child's work, which I know the old teacher will not let me see. Should I go to an administor? This is a big problem because the next teacher may give the parents a true picture of the child's progress, and the parents will revert back to last years grades amd blame the teacher. This has happened to me and it's very stressful and not fair!!!!
