I am currently working through "21 Things for the 21st Century Educator" through our ISD. I know that it barely touches on all the wonderful things available to us but it has been very helpful to me.
Tom ForsmoSocial networking can be a powerful learning tool, but don't use facebook as your prefered tool, its too noice with postings that have nothing to do with your teaching. Facebook and Twitter isn't designed especially for education. Insted Try this free social learning network with your students.
There are two main issues you have to think about before you start. What do we flip, and how do we do it. If you start to create video lectures on every single topic in the curriculum you have a hell of a job. I think variaton is the key, create some videolessons, and rememember to flip the classroom is not only about videolectures. Its about giving your students instructions and homework they can do without your help. Then there are distribution, how do you distribute your lectures? I use a free tool called gostudyit.com, its a collaborative tool which give me and my students the possibillity to create a personal learning network, and the possibillity to share our notes with each other.

It was news to me too! But once I thought about it, it made sense. Each the video as it explains it better than I did. The thing is, for me, the Web is one of our most valuable teaching tools so we have to understand how it works from a developers' point of view so we can be smart, educated users and teachers! It's all good.

I've discovered ixl.com for math - even though there's a subscription, it looks like you can use 20 practice problems in many (many!) different strands/grade levels for free.
There are also read-aloud websites; beginning reader websites for practice like starfall.com; freerice.com for vocab practice...

I have my students do research projects ...See MoreI can remember teaching a technology class to educators about web resources just 5 years ago. Now it seems our textbooks can be accessed online. We can look up almost everything on the web from lessons, answers to questions or learning games. Students still need to be taught how to search properly.
I have my students do research projects that require some web and some "old school" resources. I also teach them that not all websites are equal. I will not allow them to reference Wikapedia, since anyone can write on there.
This is just one way I use the internet in my teaching.

My district in NC earned grant money that has provided a MAC for every student in grades 6-12 so these ideas are great! I'm always looking for new ways to use the Web in the classroom.
