My district went to FC this year ans I have to teach my campus how to make their pages in FC - not that I had ever done it, mind you.
I googled it and found this handout. It's pretty self explanatory.
I tought the first group (of pretty tech-saavy folks) to make their pages in about 45 minutes. They had basic pages done in under an hour. That's an hour total - me showing, them working.
It's not a robust program, but it gets the job done for most teachers.
I just wanted to mention elahost's special. i saw their flyers all over my campus. it seems they have some special discounts for teachers and professors etc. here is the link: [link removed]
I am with them almost 3 months now. I am using drupal (drupal.org) and it seems everything is perfect so far.
I am in charge of doing the website for my school.( Librarian) I've had to self-teach and do trial and error as I go. I would love to be able to add some animated graphics, such as falling leaves, falling snowflakes, etc. to my Home page, but don't have a clue how to do so. Could anyone help with some direction and advise. Thanks!
That would be some DHTML scripting. See the link below. Note that you can make any image fall, you just upload the image(s). They explain all about it, and there are several different effects. See their entire site for tons of stuff.
A year ago I began creating the website comicsintheclassroom.net. Its purpose was and is to help parents, teachers, and librarians find something that would engage reluctant readers and writers.
I am already on the third version of the site and I now have people writing some stuff for me.
A year ago I don't think I had even posted on another web site, and then I had my own. The vast majority has been done by me, with startup help and logo done by a couple of friends of mine.
Check it out and let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
Is there any way to password protect a file in dreamweaver so when you publish the file online, you can enter the password and see the webpage? Thanks!
That's something done with the webhost. You can search Google for .htaccess ... or contact your webhost to find out how to password protect a directory.
There are some other methods, such as using PHP to create a user log-in. Your webhost needs to allow PHP scripting, and you can't test it with Dreamweaver.

Thought you might be interested in a great presentation (podcast including slideshow) by Paul Boag on what are Web Standards and how they benefit your site. This podcast is in everyday language and slides are also available for download in powerpoint, pdf as well as mp3

I teach IT in the UK and have put a number of resources on my website - please use the following link.

Feel free to use anything that you feel may be of use. I do have a module of work that I created on the use of Dreamweaver, but I did not post it on my website as it is very specific to our internal network and how we set up eportfolios. There are however some basic Captivate shows on the use of Dreamweaver. Please give them time to load - some of them are big.
ALso - I have built the Captivate shows to a size where you can set up the screen with the Captivate show on the left hand side and have Dreamweaver running on the right hand side.
Hope this helps - I realise that it may not exactly fit the bill as I teach in the UK but there may be something you can use.

I am a teacher (unemployed) but also a web- developer/designer. I am guessing this is for a portfolio or the classroom? Check my site out and if you need something really simple I can give you a template in dreamweaver. What ever you do I would not suggest using garbage templates, the worst thing in the world is a bad site.

Hello - I teach IT in the UK and have developed my own website for use with the kids.
I have a few Captivate shows on my website on basic Dreamweaver. Feel free to use them if you want. There are also KS3 schemes of work on Media manipulation, control and Electronic christmas cards (Flash)
