If you have a classroom website, please consider sending me a link to add to my "Classroom Websites" section. It's a great resource for other teachers. I'm also giving out a Golden Apple Award to great looking classroom sites! Mae
I've saved it to my favorites so I can add it to my classroom management section. Will you email me a reminder? I might not get to that section for awhile. Mae >

Years ago (2000 and 2001) I uploaded music to my Geocities account. From there I was able to write html codes for each song and place it on my website. I can still use those codes for the music I uploaded at that time.
Things have changed!
Can this still be done? If so how and where? I need some new music! lol
Well...I'm a real doorknob. I figured out how to create forms, added them to my site, but duh...I don't know where I am supposed to retrieve the information when someone fills out the forms! Help! Also, I have a lesson plans submission form. I would love for the lesson plans to automatically go on my site, but I don't know how to do it. Does anyone have a clue? (And P.S. - Please don't tell me to do stylesheets and HTML and yadayadayada, because all of that is WAY over my head...) Mae

I'm trying to create a visitor feedback form. My hosting service provider is Lunarpages, and they support Frontpage, but they are VERY strict about mailform and all of that.
I created my form, complete with a thank you page and all. But I can't get it to take. Lunarpages disabled all mailform type scripts and advices using the nms version. Is that why my Frontpage enabled script won't work?

It looks like Lunarpages is most concerned about what you are naming the script that processes the form. Names such as formmail, email, contact, feedback, etc.
You will be most likely using a PHP script to process the contact form. The name of that script should be something random, like "t5He.php".
Your HTML form page will have a line like:
Most webhosts would like you to use some sort of security measure that will distinguish a human from a spammer robot program. Using a Captcha, or even a simple question such as "What is 1+2+3?". The user enters 6 into the text box and the script checks the answer before it sends the email.
No matter how much security, there are always companies (usually overseas) that hire hundreds of people to spam forms. Not much you can do about that.
I usually tell people to not even use forms unless you're willing to accept the spamming. Use a free Yahoo email account and change it periodically.
There are many PHP contact form script examples on the internet that will process forms. (see link below)

I sent you an email about my progress. All looks good. Is there anything else I should know before publishing the form to the web?
There might be others that are in need of some help with scripting, like PHP, contact forms, emails, etc.
This forum (teachers.net) is a great communication tool, but is very poor at editing text and it's very hard to communicate HTML or PHP help to others because it strips away programming code.
So, a better way to get PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascripting help is to use the forum listed below.
I'm one of several moderators on that forum, so you can look me up there too (mlseim).
Hopefully, teachers.net will wake-up and install a "real forum" where technical issues can be properly discussed.
I am looking for some troubleshooting tips for an uploading problem to video sharing sites like teacher tube and vimeo. I created a photo story and converted to wmv and then uploaded to the two aforementioned sites. I have done this many times before btw. I got error messages at both sites numerous times saying my attempt to upload had failed because they didn't recognize my file extension. both sites accept .wmv files and I have uploaded wmv's to both sites before. Please help me figure out what went wrong this time... TIA
Here's what I would do first ... Find a .wmv file that you DIDN'T create, maybe something from the internet, and try uploading that one first. If that uploads properly and your own does not, you know for sure something is wrong with the way you saved or formatted it. Sometimes there are settings on a recorder or converter that mess things up.

I am building a webpage to upload it onto my school server using an FTP. I'm just making it on microsoft word, saving it as a webpage, and uploading it. Is there any other way to do so that's easy and free (or cheap)?
Louis DavisI found this website that provides free web pages and websites for teachers and schools. It's really easy to edit and free to use. Check it out: [link removed]
Nothing is free. Case in point, with the "free" version above you get to look at their Google Ads all day long. Part of the agreement is that you will allow advertising, so if your district is running a filter like Websense then the ads will not appear...is this then subject to litigation?
If you don't want the ads then: "Subscription are based on annual fees and priced at $1500 per year per school. Sites for District Offices start at $2000 per year."
That is a lot of money for an ad free Web site. You can build your own for less than $100 a year. For $1500, might as well host your own server.
Has anyone use LunarPages as their WebHost? I am needed help in finding a host for my website. My previous one keeps "crashing". LunarPages has a program for teachers.

I've used lunarpages for my site for over a year. I have never had a problem. My site is educationbuffet.com
I've saved it to my favorites so I can add it to my classroom
management section. Will you email me a reminder? I might not get
to that section for awhile. Mae
