Here's a wonderful retirement that uplifts and honors the person retiring. Great for using at retirement slide-show presentations. Just send an email to the web-page owner to request a zip file if you want to use the song.

According to techLearning magazine, a magazine on technology integration in education, “Legislation has been introduced in Congress that would prohibit anyone under 18 from using school or library computers to access Web sites that create public "Web pages or profiles" and also offer a discussion board, chat room, or e-mail service.”
While I understand the idea behind protecting students from internet preditors, this legislation will also prevent good learning from occurring. I currently use an online discussion board in my classroom to extend class discussion on literature and topics, as well as for authentic writing opportunities. Under this new legislation, I would no longer be able to use such a great tool.
Online discussion boards not only provide a safe place for students to get help on assignments, but it also allows students who aren’t normally heard in the classroom to be heard equally. I have researched this topic greatly as I plan to complete my dissertation on this topic. I truly feel that using these boards in my class has given my students a new confidence in their ideas and boosted their understanding of what we read. (See more of my research here: [link removed])
More and more schools are using blogs and discussion boards to further student reading comprehension and writing skills. If we block these tools because some students misuse them when they are unsupervised, then we ruin a potentially helpful tool in education. Maybe what we need instead is teachers trained in how to supervise teachers on the computer.
Please encourage your state and city representatives to vote against this piece of legislation.

Hi- I know you guys are the best and I don't where else to turn. I am really interested in having a 360 tour on my website of my classroom. Several of my visitors have requested one and I am just stumped. I found a free version on the web (panoweaver) but I have been unable to make it work so far. I took all the pics by hand w/my digital cam, should I have used a tripod? Here is an example of a site that does have a 360 classroom tour: [link removed]
I'm about ready to give up and try to find somebody to do it for me at a reasonable price, any takers? TIA vanna/tx
Did you say you have a totally free version, or a free-trial version? And how large (in pixels size) are the photos that you took? I'm thinking the photos may have been too large.
A few years ago I found a free Java Applet VR viewer that is pretty crude compared to PanoWeaver. It just takes the .jpegs and puts them in order. You take at least 12 photos and name in order, put them in the same directory as the applet. It was created in 1997, so that says a lot.
Here's an example: [link removed]
Panoweaver looks much better, but maybe Freedom VR may get you going until you figure out why panoweaver isn't working. I don't see why you couldn't use the same .jpeg photos.
I think that this is where it On 6/01/06, vanna/tx wrote: > Hi- I know you guys are the best and I don't where else to > turn. Thanks for the help everybody. I think my problem may be with the size of my photos as well as the fact that I didn't use a tripod. The Panoweaver itself doesn't seem too complicated to use (I can't remember if I have free trial or totally free version). I wasn't able to get the Freedom VR site to work for me. vanna/tx
Hi! I'm going to attempt a modified version of a blog. It will really be a web page that I will add to after students send me a submission (which I will have to edit). I want to set up a form that kids will access on the web. I have the submit and reset buttons and the text box all ready to go, but I can't figure out how to get the contents of the box to be emailed to me upon someone clicking submit. What am I missing? I've searched through the help topics but can't find it. Mar
html is a markup language which basically tells the browser what to display and how to display it, it does not "Do" anything other than that.
if you want to "Do" something, such as email the contents of a form you will need a scripting language. The best thing to do is to check with your host and see what is available. They often have already written scripts that you can hook your form to ( e.g. form action="path/to/script.whatever") and the script will be processed by the server and email the form contents to whatever email address you designate. The most common script languages for this are php, asp, perl, and coldfusion but like I mentioned your host should be able to tell you what is available and how to implement it.
There are some javascripts out there, which work clientside instead of server side (through the visitors browser instead of being processed by the host server) but they usually work using the visitor's email client/program.

I used to be able to copy html code by clicking on the "VIEW" menu and then "SOURCE". Now when I click on the "VIEW" menu, and click on "SOURCE", nothing happens. What's up with that? Is there something I need to enable or disable on my PC to make that option available to me again? Thanks for any suggestions. dj~
You didn't say whether it was with IE or Firefox. I'm guessing you need to view options to make Notepad or Wordpad the program to open up the source code. The setting must have been erased.
Also possible that spyware or a trojan has hijacked your browser and has wiped out those functions. You'll know that happened if you also lose the ability to set your home page.
Let us know what you find.

IE was the one that I could not view the source. However I could with Firefox. I couldn't figure out how to make Notepad or Wordpad the program to open up in IE, so I did a little searching, and one of the suggestions to make the "View Source" open was to delete temp files and cookies. It worked. Thanks for the suggestions. dj~

My Question: When I want to respond to a certain post on Tnet, could you please explain the easy steps to follow? I still have trouble and I'd love to have this cleared up! Hope this helps ya Dale. You can select [highlight] text using your mouse or keyboard: To select text using your mouse, click and drag the mouse over the entire portion of text you want to select. Selected text appears highlighted in black.
To delete selected text, use either the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard. You can also use these keys to delete one character at a time, without selecting a block of text: ·The Backspace key deletes the character to the left of the insertion point. ·The Delete key deletes the character to the right of the insertion point. To select an entire word, simply double-click the word. Click the word a third time to select the entire paragraph. To select a line of text, click outside the left margin of the line. You can continue to select text, line by line, by holding down the mouse button and dragging to the end of the text you want to select.
