One of our first grade teachers has set up her entire morning routine on a smartboard lesson. She has some of the following pages ready so she can just click through them as need be.
Lunch count -- three columns with headings: Line A, Line B, Brought. She has the students names (movable) to one side. As the kids come in they are to pick up the pointer and move their names to the proper column.
Calendar/weather -- a calendar with movable number cards. The calendar student can move the correct number into its proper box, then move the proper weather symbol to be included in the box.
Number of days into the school year -- a hundred's chart where they are keeping track of what number day this is, then they practice counting the days.
Money page -- She can write a money amount at the top of a big piggy bank and students can drag coins in to show that amount.
There are several other pages she has included, but I don't recall of them.

I have been given money to purchase a smartboard, but must confess that I know very little about them and their benefits. Would anyone be willing to take the time to enlighten me to their qualities? Give suggestions as to what to buy? Useful websites? I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!!

It is a bummer that we can't have the sounds but I absolutely love the site! Lill

Does anyone use a Mac for their smartboard? I am trying to figure out how to show something on my smartboard and not have the same thing on my desktop...to slide the screen from my computer to the smartboard. I know that this is possible to do using a PC but no one seems to know how to do this on a MAC. Has anyone figured this out?

I've had my SmartBoard for a few weeks now. I had training only two weeks ago so I am not familiar with all the things I can do yet. Tonight, I used some of the templates available and didn't know how to type in accent marks. How do I do this?

I figured it out. If anyone else is interested, here's how to do it:
1. Create a textbox using the text tool. The text edit toolbox should appear.
2. Click on the little arrow between the ? and the X.
3. In the dropdown menu which appears, choose "other".
4. Scroll along to your desired letter and select.
Hope this helps anyone else who is wanting to use accent marks.
I'm the author of NetPen, a free interactive whiteboard tool. I just made some changes requested specifically for teachers (i.e., voting, testing, and grading) in the UK and thought it might also be of some use for you.
Version 0.95 is the first release specifically for teachers and because of the extensive additions should be considered a beta. So, it’s perhaps not quite ready for the class room, but a great time to get any feedback to me on how to make it more effective for teachers.
You can download the software from [link removed].
You don’t have to download & install it to see how it works; there are 3 short tutorial videos on the two pages listed above.
Regards,
Paul
P.S. NetPen’s been around for a while (it’s just the new features specifically for teachers that’s new). You can see some independent reviews (and even download the old version) from:
