I have a Numonics whiteboard that I have used in my K class for over 2 years. Our district is adding additional IWB technology. I have seen demonstrations of Promethean ActivPrimary and think it would be very appropriate in my kindergarten. I like the "chunky" tools for the young children to use. However, our tech coordinator wants to get all new Smartboards. I have explored their site but haven't found comparable software solutions to those offered by Promethean. Please share your experiences/advice. Thanks.

Why would your district not even consider staying with a Numonics Board? They build a high quailty product and are constantly upgrading their software Also they include state stanardized Easi teach software. In additon,Numonics offer a life time warranty s you know you are getting a quaility product. Not to mention they manufacture in the USA!! I have friends who have Promethean Boards in their classrooms and don't even use them ater six hous of training because they are too complicated. As American educators wouldn't it seem appropriate to use a product in our classroom that offers the first digital whiteboard, made is the US, would help our economy and our students benefit as well? As an educator it seems to me that most school district go with Smart because everyone else is but the truth is if they looked at the market fairly they would discover that they are getting more for their money with a Numonics Board that is made here then with a product made in Cananda.
I used the Promethean for sixth grade last year, and it was fantastic. There are so many features that Promethean offers that are really easy for students to use, I highly recommend it! I don't know as much about the Smartboard, but I think it probably is comparable, so if you end up getting it, find out everything you can about it, play around with it, and have fun! Your students will love either technology! Susan

Thanks, Susan...I have a Promethean board ordered that should arrive next week! While waiting, I've downloaded the "viewer" at the Promethean Planet website and have been using several of the flipcharts on my current IWB. I'm excited to have full access coming soon! kteacher
