By way of summary, I am a secondary social studies teacher licensed in Illinois and Indiana. In terms of why I decided to become a teacher, it really came down to two things: a passion for my content area and, even more importantly, a fundamental love of working with children. Applicable job skills of mine include, among others, lesson-planning, classroom management, assessment (both formative and summative), collaborative problem-solving, communicating with parents/guardians and working with the "Skyward" electronic grading system. And as a final point for now, let me just say that as an educator, I continuously strive to improve my all-around skills, abilities, etc. and will never be "satisfied" with where I currently stand, in this respect.
