Guido Parisi was born in a small Italian town in the south of the country called Sparanise. After graduating in Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Naples, he completed national service in the army as an officer and rose to the rank of captain. On leaving the army he started a long and fulfilling career as a teacher first in Italian schools and then in universities in several countries such as Lithuania, Canada, Finland and Poland. As an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he worked in the Cultural Sections of Italian Embassies abroad and at present he is the director of a prestigious Italian cultural institution, the Società Dante Alighieri, in charge of promoting the Italian language and culture around the world. His published books are mainly, but not exclusively, addressed to the world of pupils and students.
