I noticed farther down this list that about a year ago Wizzie sent an address for Familes Attached to Military. It was an address that we could send 100 valentines that would get to our servicemen and women oversees. Does anyone know if this address is still correct? I did a goodle search for Families Attached to Military and found their website but it must be haivng difficulties because I could not read anything on it.
I work in museum education, and I'd like to create a special art activity with a 100 Days theme. I'm not sure which grades observe it. Is this something that is done more in pre-school and the primary grades? It seems that older kids would have a better understanding of what 100 days are, so maybe you do this just with the younger ones. Thanks for the advice.
Here's something that's a little different that you may want to try to mark the passing of 100 Days. Why not tie the observance into a recycling project? Have kids bring in 100 cans or something similar, and after you've reached the goal, you can recycle them.
If you want to take the project one step further, make a garbage pizza, as shown here. This model shows the composition of American landfills by the percentage of various types of trash. Kids bring in the various "pizza toppings," and you glue them onto the pizza.
The one shown here is the size of a regular pizza, but you could make a bigger one. Click on the thumbnail photos to see the details. Teaching kids about recycling is a great way to encourage environmental stewardship and responsibility. And when Earth Day rolls around, you have a ready made visual aid for demonstration purposes.
Hi Trisha, I'm a 3rd grd teacher & I still celebrate the 100th day of school. Since students are getting better at MULTIPLICATION and arrays, this is a wonderful opportunity to have hands-on projects in MATH:
1) Graph paper 10X10 grids, have the students find the dif't arrays for 100 (100X1, 1X100, 2X50, etc & have them paste the arrays on construction paper... My students LOVED it!
2)Make collages out of 100 things ( the sky's the limit)
3)Research 100 yrs. ago in your state....
Let me know what you decide... Lynn

My third graders celebrate with the K-3 students. (One class of each grade - small school) We are the "hosts". Mine still complete a 100th day project at home and present in school. We have a Hall of 100s when the younger students add whatever they've completed in school. Math definitely lends itself to the 100th day.
Our 100th day of school is Friday, Jan. 21. Our class only needs 10 more messages to reach our goal of 100 e-mails. So far we have gotten an awesome response and I truly thank each person who sent an e-mail. If you haven't responsed yet, here is your chance!! Please send your city, state (and country if you are outside the US) to [email removed]
My son just got this assignment. He loves studying anything military and it was his idea to do soldiers. I went to the dollar store and bought packages of plastic soldiers and the foam board.
We didn't attempt it yet but I plan on ripping up colored paper and having him glue them on the board to look like ground cover and then just glue the soldiers on the board. Maybe we can find a flag for him to decorate it with.
My Daughter has this project as well and she decided to do 100 food items for a localSalvation Army food bank. There are so many wonderful lessons that can be taught through this project.
Whatever you choose good luck and happy collecting!!
I am looking for a new book, because kindergarten does Wolf's Chicken Stew, and first grade uses How Much Is A Million. I would love to hear your ideas.

Does anyone do a 100 day family project? I would like my students to create something using 100 items. What guidelines have you given your students? Does anyone have a copy of the note that they send home?
The 100th day family project- the display needs to incorporate 100 of the same items into some form of a creative display or scene. Then placed in the hallway for everyone to see. Examples: a three dimensional ladybug made out of pom poms. 100 Goldfish crackers in a beautiful decorated pond surrounded by trees and bushes.
I need some ideas for my thrid grade daughters 100th day of school project. It has to be creative and a family project. Anyone with suggestions please!!! I have two days to do this. The teacher was very last minute. Thasnk you.
