We strongly believe that peace begins in the classroom. People are affected by many different types of conflict; bullying affects the lives of thousands of young people every day. As part of Peace One Day’s free online Peace Education Resource we have created two Ending-Bullying lesson plans along with Classroom Resources. Lessons 3A Ending-Bullying Role Play and 3B Making an ‘Ending-Bullying’ Advertisement provide opportunities for students to not only discuss and share ideas and experiences of bullying, but also to take positive and creative steps to make bullying a thing of the past. We hope that through the use of these lessons educators can facilitate a growing awareness amongst young people that RESPECT & TOLERANCE are key to a peaceful and happy community. 3A Ending-Bullying Role Play, gives students the tools and words as well as a safe environment to express themselves and to gain further understanding about how their actions can affect others. The topical issue of cyber-bullying is also addressed. 3B Making an ‘Ending-Bullying’ Advertisement, students can work together developing empathy and confidence through creating an Ending-bullying advertisement, this can be done through Art, Film, Theatre, Photography and much more. The idea is to avoid negative language and show students that they have the power to move forward and to create the kind of community they want to live in. Peace Day was established in 2001 as a UN recognised day of global ceasefire and non-violence. We now aspire to institutionalise 21 September so that it becomes self sustaining. However, we can’t do this alone, we need you and your students help!
There are THREE STEPS to making a commitment: • Decide what you will do on 21September • Log your commitment at [link removed]!
We know that students thrive (learn best?) with engaging and interesting activities and for that reason we think the ‘Three Steps To Peace One Day’ can be incorporated into a lesson plan. Ideas can be discussed in groups or individuals can come up with their own pledge to the cause. These ideas and commitments can then be shared with the rest of the class or even the whole school. Commitments can be anything from being kind to your family to organising a sports game and could happen in at school or in the local community. Our aim is to promote intercultural communication and co-operation. We want students to be aware that they too can make peace and that the smallest commitment can transport the peace message across the globe.
This is both a fun and exciting activity that promotes potentially life changing actions and can also be used in conjunction with National Standards for Social Studies. We love to receive footage and images of Peace Day commitments and they can be sent to us at [email removed].
We look forward to hearing from you…!

We are a nonprofit, 501 (c) 3 educational organization. Our CA corporate tax ID number is: 3251745 All donations are tax-deductible!
First, we are helping adults start their own "Constitution/Freedom" clubs across the country to teach all ages of youth. We want to get our clubs into schools, churches, community centers, homes, etc. and get teachers, church leaders, parents, etc. to "found" the clubs. Everything is on our website like: lesson plans (K- university), information on how to start and maintain the club. It is easy using our website. We are also getting ready to start another program for youth and young adults.
Our other program is a youth/young adult leadership program. Basically, we will help provide to youth the opportunity to learn about: career opportunities, community issues, politics, business, positive/motivational messages and other things. We will accomplish this through a variety of speakers from those fields to teach youth and help them reach their maximum potential and become productive leaders in all the areas of focus we detailed.
I would be thankful if you can pass our website along to other freedom-loving Americans too. If you know anyone that may be able to support our cause, please send them to our website to donate.

I am looking for fun and creative ideas for a learning center focused on the African grasslands & animals. I am in a first grade classroom and we're doing a thematic unit about the African Safari (grasslands, rainforest, and desert). I would greatly appreciate any and all ideas!!
They have other books in the series, dinosaurs, insects, sea animals, weather. Here's the main page at amazon for the series: [link removed]
It's for El Ed, although I use some of the stories for higher levels.
