Hello everyone! I am new to this group but I hope someone can help me. I am starting a teaching position (K-5) in January. I have taught first grade but never K5. I created centers for first grade because we did centers at the end of the day for the last 30 minutes everyday. The kids loved it! They looked forward to their "center time" everyday. I >was wondering if anyone had any ideas for center themes for the winter and spring. I have some but I wanted to create more because I will probably run through centers quicker with K5. I try to include Reading, Math, Writing, Listening, and Phonics into my centers. If any of you >have ideas that you would like to share please let me know. I would >appreciate it!

Hello, I am a student at the University of Florida and I am working on an honors project on centers in the classroom. I discovered this site while doing research and thought that perhaps, some of you might be willing to help me. I am interested in any information you can share about centers.
Some topics I am especially interested in are: Advantages & Disadvantages of centers, The purpose they serve in your classroom, How efficient are they at serving your intended purpose?, What kinds of activities do you incorporate into your centers?, Center management. Any posts or e-mails would be greatly appreciated. I am realy interested in how effective centers are, so thank you for contributing to my research.
If you would when you respond, please include the grade level you teach and the state you teach in... I will not include any personal information other than those two things in my paper.
Again, thank you very much and ANY information is appreciated.
I am looking for pen pals for my eight first grade students. There are four boys and four girls. We would prefer to write to students from a Christian school.
I would also be interested. I have a homeroom class of 19 1st graders and a reading class (benchmark/challenge readers) of 16 students. I am also not from a Christian school, but I am a Christian and I do know that some of my students do attend church regularly. Let me know if you are interested!
I teach K-5 ESL students from a many different countries and languages. They are intermediate to high level reading and writing. I would like to have them become pen pals with either other ESL students or students from other countries.
My Class is looking for a place in Mexico to send Flat Stanley. Is there anyone who could accommodate this request. He takes up little space and just really want a look around and only has to stay a few days. Mrs. Saunders, Grade Three, Bidwell Porter Elementary, Southeast Ohio, USA
