I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to make an explosive volcano eruption. Not the typical baking soda and vinager. I already tried that I what something bigger and better.

Hi! I know it is really early to be thinking about ideas for Earth Day, however, I am in charge of collecting ideas and getting activities together for my school so that we can celebrate Earth Day as an entire school. Anyboday have any good ideas? Thanks!
Make a Garbage Monster (after reading the book of the same name). Students must make it at least 12 inches tall (to get in a little measurement) and it must be made entirely of trash. They are working on them as I type. I can't wait to see them!
The second thing that we are doing is to have a day with no garbage cans. This will drive home the point of how much garbage each person creates (according to one source, it's about 6 pounds per person, per day). Students will have a recycled grocery bag in which they will keep their trash. At the end of the day, we'll put on gloves and examine our trash, brainstorming ways we could reuse some of the items.

Hi there
We has just embarked on this theme. For my K1, so far we did 3 activities. 1. Create a save the earth badge for every child and do an extra tto give to friends or family members to remind them to recycle
2.Do a class project by designing the save the earth poster. Get children to draw a big earth and then children to contribute anything they want to draw e.g trees, animals, people, insects etc 3. Do an experiment on how garbage pollution affect the sea animals and then get them to use junk materials to create sea creatures.
I am currently planning an Earth Day unit for a first grade classroom. What I am most excited about is the "Earth Day Dump Cake". This is designed to teach the students about the different levels (ground, water, air) of pollution in the evironment in a fun interactive way!

Hello- The National Outdoor leadership School with 40 years of experience in teaching wilderness skills and leadership has a school in Yukon, Canada. It is open in the summer months and offers 14 -70 day wilderness expeditions. For more information please go to [link removed]
Very, very good feeling I got from your work Hilllol. It is beautiful. We would like very much for you to be a part of our Earth Day 2005 event and read your poem in English, your native tounge, and another language of your choice as well. Thank you for writing this poem. Pehaps the EPA would sponsor a poetry/essay writing contest and you could judge the work and they could be recognized at EarthDay during your session. Let us know so we can book you. Good day, Susan Gregory, 214-824-2448
Our school has participated in many fundraisers in the past few years but one in particular sounded very promising, inkjet recycling. Inkjet Recycling Company, also marketed as IRC located in Chatsworth, CA,(Their office is in Erie,PA) offers a recycling fundraiser where they say they pay cash...CAUTION...they will take your money!! I have sent to them several times and have NEVER received a check. Rumor has it that they used to be a legitamate company but as of late they have burned many schools! Approach this fundraiser with caution! Their website for review is at [link removed].

Hi everyone. I'm new to teaching and am going to be planning an interdisciplinary unit on the rainforest for fourth graders. Does anyone have any good resources they can recommend? I am especially interested in finding a professional organization that my class could link to online to exchange information. Thanks!
I am planning a Science exhibit for April. Would like to make half the gym a rainforest for the students to visit. Any suggestions? Have done this before but would like some new ideas.
