Island ink-jet have been refilling cartridges since 2001 at their retail locations across Canada. They have recycled over 8,000,000 cartridges. That's a lot of experience behind each refill.

This is a wonderful resource for teachers wishing to gather books for an ecology or Earth Day theme. ("Thank you!" Nancy Andersen, Librarian OLCS, Erie, PA and Susan Miceli, Children's Services Manager, ECPL, Erie, PA for compiling and sharing this important resource!)
Miy Recycled Bottle Craft "Recycled Illuminations for Earth Day Celebrations" Kids Bottle Lantern Green Craft Creations
Recycling plastic bottles to make fabulous lanterns is an easy Eco craft creation that can be made by children of all ages. It's an art class project, also ideal for after school and summer day camp activity. Using plastic bottles of various sizes with a few basic supplies. These illuminating colourful creations can be made under one hours. Simple patterns are created with stickers or painter's tape, and adorned with decorative wire and beads. Let the lantern parade begin!!! These green craft lanterns are perfect to illuminate a patio or deck at home or at the cottage. A fun green craft to do with the kids!
I use EcoBuddies to teach info about earth day- there are worksheets about being greena dn earth day on teh blog for grade 4 and 5. The virtual world has different cool huts in it that give kids info about animals and being green!
I once saw a teacher put on an Earth Day fashion show. The students collected their garbage for a week and then designed entire outfits (dresses, shoes, pants, hats, jewelry, etc) which they modeled in a fashion show.
Has anyone ever done this and have suggestions on dos and don'ts????
Does anyone know where i can find the science project about oil spills? I did k- 4 crusades and i know we did one in that class but i cant find it. I know that we used dawn as one of the things to clean
This might work, you can also (depending on grade level discuss the diffence between polar and nonpolar molecules, using the example of trying to mix oil and water (thye seperate) in a beaker, then add some a some liquid laundry detergent to the beaker and stir. The detergent will attach to the oil (I use canola). The oil and detergent look cool, it looks like liquid glitter. I also use this to explain to students why just washing off with water doesn't work, the oil and dirt on you skin does not bond with water molecules, so you use soap bc it bonds to the oil and dirt and then is washed away with water (this is a good discussion when the weather gets warm and kids can start to get funky.) You can also use magnets as a visual to explain all of this too, it opposite sides are put together they attract, if you put the same polarities together they repel each other (as with oil and water). I hope this helps.
