I'm curious as parent to know if any of these post regarding using tour companies has any results. Is there a site that teachers can goto to share there experience that will help other teachers and parents aware of the bad or good companies?
As a provider of curriculum based student travel, I am a frequent visitor to this chatboard. We are wrapping up our 2011 tour season and I wanted to take the opportunity to share some success stories that may help some of you stay motivated to continue to offer these opportunities to your students.
In 2011, we have provided 1 and 2 day Sacramento and Gold Country tours to over 1000 California students from Title 1 schools that had never traveled before. This success was due, in large part, to having the advantage of working with very dedicated and focused teachers that understand the value of field studies. That, combined with creative fundraising programs, grants and community support made these trips a reality for many students that would never have the opportunity, otherwise.
I, personally and EDT as a company have truly been inspired by our outcomes from this tour season. Please contact me if I might help by sharing some specific ideas with you.
EF Malta is very disorganized. The school is the most expensive in Malta, very weak staff and management not oriented to teach the language properly. They lack discipline and seem to only want to grab money. No quality at all. I transferred all my students to another school.
I have taken many trips through many tour companies with my students over 40+ years in education. There have been many posts on here concerning Explorica and EF. I have not used these companies, but have been in inquiry with them over the years. Watch for the "hidden costs". I discovered a company that is highly trustworthy, with loaded itineraries, cultural immersion and adventure to the max. My kids loved it -- PREP TOURS -- try Puerto Rico. You don't have to worry about passports, money exchange, cell phone usage, etc etc. Dynamite trip!!! Good luck in your pursuits! Carol

If you would like to stay up-to-date on grant information, pl...See MoreI originally posted about having researched grant information for field trips. I received an overwhelming response (over 300 people) and continue to update the grant information on a semi-annual basis. As a result, I have automated the process in order to keep up with requests.
If you would like to stay up-to-date on grant information, please use the link below to subscribe to the email newsletter that I send out periodically. My company is also taking steps to assist in field trip fundraising efforts as well.
