Many of the student tour companies are clamoring for teachers to travel with them by offering large 'stipends', rewards, finders fees/referral bonuses, and other travel perks beyond a free trip. I've heard as much as $400 per student for European trips and $325 per student for Washington, DC/east coast trips. then there are the wine and dine 'works...See More

Alfred $375 per student?!? Where in the world do you get that sort of figure? The average group size (and again, I've been doing this 10 years) is approximately 20 +/-. That's enough to cover two-three teachers, and the remaining stipend is approximately $300-$400 TOTAL, not per student. That's not greedy. I know no one who could count that sort of money ...See More

Concerned in Texas erhaps Alfred you should move here. I'm dealing with this as a parent for the second time. Three years ago with my daughter we had to turn her down and she was devastated as her friends who's parents had the means spent more than $1400 to send their children to Philadelphia.

A year later, we spent not much more to take the entire family o...See More

I am not a teacher. I am a parent that recently attended an Explorica tour with 3 Spanish language middle school teachers, my daughter and 13 school mates. The trip was 1 week: Madrid, Mallorca and Barcelona. (I have traveled to Barcelona twice in recent years and to Madrid many years ago.) This was my first "tour" experience so I did not have much...See More
Word to the wise. Explorica employees routinely troll through this board and even post phoney posts here. I know this because I got a call from one based on one of my posts!!!

For all I know, other companies also either attack one another or praise themselves all the time here. Caveat emptor!!!
I wanted to put in a great recommendation for the Class Act Tour company. They recently took our school group on a 5 day trip to tour the Mayan ruins in the Yucatan peninsula. Everyone in the group was extremely satisfied, and I was happy to not have to do any of the planning myself!!!

They arranged classes, found excellent tour guides, pr...See More

    terreeteau.ca Hey Solomon,

I respectfully disagree with your suggestion that it is important to travel with a large, well-known company. If anything, this chat board makes a strong case to avoid these monoliths and their inhumane practices (see Explorica vs. EF).

In Canada, travel companies (regardless of size) are registered and hold their cl...See More

I have taken many trips with students. Both with CHA and Explorica. My last 3 with Explorica. I must say I have been pretty happy with them. My group of 49 is starting in Paris and ending in Rome. Just got our flight info and we they have us flying to Rome first then connecting to Paris. I am used to round about arrivals however by the time we get ...See More
