How it works! We provide you with DVD’s, a curriculum CD, Incentive posters, and as many catalogs as you need. Your students promote conservation awareness and protect acres with the proceeds from top quality shirts and profits are donated to Conservation International who is on the ground and working with locals and government officials to stop mining and illegal deforestation of this once vast example of biodiversity.
Please provide me with the number of students that will participate, and a commitment that you will put forth an effort for this great cause. Every shirt counts and your students will feel a sense of pride by making a difference. The more incentives and motivation you create, the more successful the campaign. I am posting this; to offer a fundraiser, or simply to buy cheap unused books, I work for a book warehouse. Once a year we open to the public as a fundraiser for local, non profit organizations such as schools and libraries. JR Trading is having it's annual "open to the public" Warehouse Sale on November 22nd and 23rd. If you have a non profit organization that would like to participate (such as your school); we will donate %10 of each sale brought in by your organization. Usually most of our participants are schools, however with the economy the way it is, we decided to offer this to all non profit organizations. We understand that many non profit organizations are not receiving the donations they need, due to most peoples financial status and inability to donate. We wanted to find a way to offer donations to charities that we feel are important. How it works: We open once a year to the public, with prices as low as % 70 off the retail price. We give you %10 of each purchase made by someone who comes with your flyer. We also offer %10 off, to all teachers. We have books of all categories available from Science fiction, Non Fiction, Text Books, Medical Books, Craft Books, Cook Books, Children’s Books, Etc.. We have Children’s sweat shirts. We also have winter jackets that are for sale. We are taking the profit on those sales, and dividing it up between the non profit charity organizations that participate. This Saturday, I will go swimming in Lake George, NY, to raise money for Special Olympics New York.
This will be the fifth time I have done it, and combining plunges with benefit walks, I have raised more than $5,000 for Special Olympics. This year I have a chance to be the top fund-raiser at Lake George, and our team, Agni Dentati, has the possibility of being the top fund-raising team as well -- and there are only three of us.
Some of you know me, and others don't, but I am casting a wide net as we head into the final week. If you and/or folks you work with can help, I would greatly appreciate it, and I will provide a written account and pictures.
I and almost 50, have been around Special Olympics since high school, and it is one of my most powerful passions.
I know times are tough, but I would appreciate any help you can give.
The link to donate online is: [link removed]
If you need to send a check, please contact me through private mail, and I will give you the address.
If you have already donated, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Also, please feel free to pass this along to friends, family and others.

My grandparents feed the wild turkeys. There has been a ban on feeding and baiting of deer and elk in the lower peninsula of Michigan sense the end of August after Chronic Wasting Disease was discovered in a deer at a deer farm in Kent County near Grand Rapids. After intense testing of whitetail deer (10,000), no additional cases have been discovered in either Michigan’s wild deer herd or at deer farms. Winter has arrived, and this year a lot of areas of the Lower Peninsula have experienced record or near record amounts of snow fall for the month of December. The crops have all been harvested, food sources that people have planted to help the wildlife are snow covered, and people who have for years fed and helped the wildlife out during the long winters are no longer allowed to do it. We have seen pictures of deer at the windows of people’s homes and eating the shrubbery and plants next to people’s houses. There have been reports of turkeys dieing. One woman in the north western Lower Peninsula, who has a flock of 40+ turkeys near her home, has reported that at least half the flock has already died. There have also been reports of fawn (the baby) deer having a real hard time in the deep snow. We have waited for the end of the deer hunting season so the baiting of deer for hunting would not be an issue.
We are asking for help. Would anybody be willing to talk to their kids and to get a letter writing campaign started in their schools and ask that the feeding ban be lifted for the winter to help the wildlife? Fund raising could also be started by the kids and donations to the Michigan State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. This organization supports winter supplemental feeding and has a fund available for winter survival feeding programs. Last year there were request’s for a total of $26,000 for winter feeding, but there was only $17,500 available. The number of turkeys reported was 23,000. There is a web site; [link removed].
There are still areas in the Lower Peninsula where the feeding ban should probably be left in place, The TB zone in the north eastern lower, and in Kent County where the one case of CWD had been discovered.
Letter writing should be addressed to;
The Governor of the State of Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm P.O. Box 30013 Lansing, Mich. 48909
The Chairman of the Natural Resources Commission Keith J. Charters 126 Spring Hill rd. Traverse City, Mich. 49686
