#1 Each class would put together a traveling box with items representing your state. Your class would also add letters from your students, maybe a class book, etc.
#2 A small stuffed animal with a tiny journal can be included and the receiving class will document the places the animal might travel to throughout the school (or city) I like to include some pictures that teach my class about local landmarks as well.
#3 Once your box is ready, we will set a send off date and you will mail your traveling box to a designated school. I will set up a rotation schedule depending on the number of classes we have to participate.
#4 Your class will then await the arrival from a class in another state. Once you receive the box, you will dive in with your class and learn all about the other state. You will then add letters and a class book to the box. Also, you will travel a few of the places with the stuffed friend and their journal.
#5 After a certain time period we will again forward to the next location. We end the year by getting our original box back and looking at all of the added books, letters, journal entries, photos, etc.
I PROMISE THAT YOUR STUDENTS WILL ADORE EVERY SECOND WITH THIS PROJECT!!! It will allow you to work on reading, writing, and so much more.
Please only join us if you promise to follow through. Without that follow through, the entire project will be a huge disappointment to everyone.
