Last year I had a beta fish as a class pet. This year I am thinking about getting a frog. I was think of going with a tree frog but when I went to the pet store they seemed really inactive and the woman who worked there said they usually stay in the corner of the tank. Does anyone have any suggestions on a type of frog I should get.

I am going to become a Spanish teacher soon. I was wondering if there were any Spanish teachers out there who have had any exotic animals from South America in their classroom, and if that turned out to enrich your Spanish classroom -- some kind of South American snake or frog, an iguana, spider, etc. What would work best?
Input from biology teachers would be welcome as well!

I have a fancy male beta fish with fringy fins. In the past week his stomach are is huge, like he is pregnant. And his coloring is off, used to be red now he id kinf of gray. Do you know what this is.
My betta had the same thing. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it. he may have an infection in his stomach, or accidentally swallowed a small piece of gravel
We got an 8 week old baby for our classroom a few months ago. He has been a joyous addition to our room. He has a great personality and the students love him. We have a large ball that he uses for exercise. The only complaint I have is that he has chewed my bulletin board borders:) We love him!!!
I was told by another teacher that seventh day adventist students are not allowed to have indoor pets. Has anyone had any experience with a situation like this?
I have taught for 30 years and I have never heard of that. I think you might put it to a class vote to see how and if they want a class pet. I have always had fish, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters or some other critter. The second graders can easily tell you, especially here at the end of the year, if they would like one. (The one kid who does not want one might be influenced by mom not wanting to take care of one at home.) The pets have always improved writing skills for those who couldn't come up with something to put in their journal. E
