I started my Beta on (Erythromycin)but find it hard to feed to him ,I managed to put a freeze dried blood worm mixed with the Antibiotic a couple of times SO far just to start ,I am still treating with Pimafix also untill Sunday,He starts to look a little better and then goes down hill again ,I just hope this Medication works for the little guy ,I also have 3 other fish in my 10 gallon tank,1 Angel,1 Neon tetra and a Sword tail, they seem OK so far ,If it Is Dropsy aparently its not contagious, if in fact it is Dropsy ,90% sure it is dropsy ,And Gill Disease at the same time,He really is fighting for his life at this point.

Wow...I feel really bad for your fish. I hope he makes it through. Keep working on it! :)

I started giving Nemo Maracyn two but i just noticed that the expiry date on the medicine was 5th month 06 ,Crap man ,it came from PJ's pet's in Pickering Ont,Does any one know if I should keep on giving it to him until i can exchange it ? or should I discontinue treatment ? I have him in a hospital tank and he seems to be hanging ON.I fed him some frozen pea's today which he had a hardy appetite for and he also eat dried blood worm or two but he is bloated and has trouble with his balance and look's uncomfortable,Well that's it for today if some one has an Idea about any thing I would be glad to here from you ,thank's Richard .
Don't worry about the expiration date-- it only means the meds are slightly less potent (just like with human meds). They don't go "bad." You may continue to use it. I like to use baby food peas-- so much easier than the frozen ones and it is difficult to find a frozen pea without sodium (which you don't want to give him for bloat). Don't use epsom salt with the maracyn2 as it'll deactivate the meds. Keep him out of too much light as it too deactivates the m2. The bloodworms will further the constipation. Is he eating the peas? aimee

When i woke up this morning, my beta was floating vertically in the corner behind a plant. I thought he might be stuck so i moved it and he kinda swam out and fell to the bottom. And everytime he settles down, his back end starts rising higher like he's floating. He won't eat either. What's wrong?

Hmm... floating vertically sometimes happen, i dont think that makes your beta die or something... but it might be in a bad condition. 1.You might want to change the water, clean the plants and rocks 2.Feed your beta another type of food, I recommend Freeze- dried bloodworms, tablets (it helps betas get rid of stress easily.) This has happened to my beta before too, i've been having 4 betas for 2 years and it still happens sometimes. 3.Remove the rocks for a day or so, if your beta reacts good to that, then keep it that way, if it's the same go to step 4 4.If you have a small (less than a gallon) you might want to find something bigger, like a beta keeper. Remember, it has to have space to swim around, or else it'll stay like that. 5.Has your beta have a very uncomfortable situation, like have it jumped and landed very badly out of water? If it does, then that's the possible reason. It has to restore its calm and it's really not easy to do that. Try giving him pimafix, you can get it from a pet store. If his vertical, just give a little touch... and see what happens.
Beta:Nemo,,,Died this morning at 10:55 He was just getting too bad for any meds to work on him ,I should of started sooner with hospital tank treatment ,He might of had a little better chance .He was straight up ,like standing on his tail with his head pointing toward top of tank for the last three days ,his chest was getting very large then for the last day he would be more motionless ,gasping for air,I think he formed tumors and also had tuberculosis ,He went smiling and is at peace now.
It's crazy, these little lives that we care for. I'm sorry about Nemo. My 1st betta was Nemo, too. He died; sounds like the same symptoms-- which I have decided are collectively called "dropsy." Just overall internal bacterial infection with some tumor- like bloat. I have one dying of it now, with the same description as your Nemo in his last days. I have tried all kinds of meds-- early on with each of the ones who have died of this and NOTHING works! I wonder why this seems like such a common cause of death in the world of bettas, and so incurable. Good luck with your next one. Be in touch with any more ??s

Beta break yes ,just for a short while until I get over the loss of Nemo ,I have three other fish's in the tank ,Angel ,Neon tetra and a Sword tail ,and they are all doing quite well.I might beef up the little Neon's and maybe a couple more sword tail's too, after all ,they are all friends .Do U think it's a good Idea to add four or five newbies at the same time ? or maybe just two tops ? Well ether way I'm going to take it slow ,all though I'm tempted to go and get another Beta, think I'll just hold of for a while until I can do some research on what goes wrong.I really think that some of my real plants had some thing to do with it as their was some of those black hairs growing I couldn't get rid of those things ,Always fungus on the leaves ,I finally got rid of the worse plant and the tank is staying much cleaner ,And with Beta's any fungus in the tank will have an detrimental effect on their health ,maybe it's just more than a coincidence ,perhaps its an epidemic but I am going to look into it ,thanks for all your concern and I will keep all informed,Rich.
Neon Tetras .I had Just bought 5 Newbies and put them in my tank which had about a 7.3 pH the same as the store ,I got up this morning and found three of them DEAD.Is this the deadly NEW TANK SINDRIM ,Can anybody help this .

That doesn't sound like new tank syndrome . . . as long as the angel fish and swordtail have been in the tank for quite awhile. If they, too, just joined the tank, then the ammonia production from the waste might have done them in.
It could also have been the angel fish. They're quite aggressive, and they can "pick on" fish, especially small ones like neons.
I'd suggest in addition to testing pH, that you also regularly test for ammonia--#1 fish killer-- and nitrates.

Day two ,the other 3 Neon's are doing fine which leads me to believe 3 of the new ones I bought might of had some thing wrong with them or were just to weak to survive the transfer from the store ,Tank is nice and clean now that I bought the new Aqua Clear with BioMax Good Bacterium collector to grow and save good Bacteria ,I also through out more of the real plant that kept growing black hairs on the leaves ,Thanks for the read still waiting for response from Ima teacher ,thanks again ,Richard

There is a spot that is not fuzzy on my betta's head!!! Is that okay? I know what diseases have what, but I don't know why he has this! Is it going to come off, because I'm really worried!!
What color? It may just be a scale that is sticking up, or fallen off. If it's not white or redish then I think it's just their pigment (or whatever it is that gives them their colors). Is he acting normal?

It's sort of white..it could be a scale that fell off since when I try to get him with the net he hits the gravel...I already know 2 other scales on his body fell off because of that but they are growing back. But if anyone else knows something about this, please tell me! (And don't forget, the spot is on his head!) :)
No, it's just hosted by teachers. Anyone may post.
