My betta doesn't like green for some reason. I was eating an green apple flavored candy cane and he flared. I'm wearing a greenish turqouise 2-piece and he flared at ME!!! It sort of hurt my feelings at first....

HI. My betta (her name is Baby Girl) was fine on Friday.. I came in today and she was stuck on the bottom of the bowl, on the rocks.. I tapped the glass (as I always do) and she tried swimming and started flopping around and couldn't swim.. I reached in and held her in my hand (while under water) . she wasn't stuck, she tried to swim and fell to the bottom... Is she dying?? She's approx. 2 years old... Please help. I am soooooo upset........... I know it's silly, but she is my 'baby girl'..

ya, change all his water. he probably has an infection from old dirty water. fishs' old wastes can make them sick, or get ugly effects like the two holes in yours gills. change ALL THE WATER!!! From, i-have-2-bettas

How much of his water do you change and when? If his tank is too small, sometimes they don't have enough room to swim and just stay at the bottom. Either that, or he is sick.
It is possibly a swim bladder issue. This means he may be constipated. I would feed him peas (baby food peas on a toothpick. I would reduce the amount of regular pellet food for now. Keep the water clean as the peas dirty the water.
Let me know if you have other??s aimee

I just brought home a female betta a few days ago. They guy at the pet store told me they only feed their bettas a few pellets three times a week, but when I got home, I tried to feed her anyway. My last betta lived three years and I fed him every day until he stopped eating. He seemed fine. I have tried to feed her every day since then (I got her tuesday, and its now friday). All she has eaten is one pellet. I have also tried flakes and frozed blood worms. she attacks the flakes at the bottom of the bowl, but when she gets it in her mouth, she spits it back out. She wont even touch what I put in her bowl. Is something wrong with her?

Bettas are very picky, and hate pellets and don't really like flakes. But some pellets, like betta bits or betta bites are okay.

I think my betta is dying....i came on here hoping too get some advice on how too make him come around...i've had him for a little over a year...he seemed to be fine a couple days ago and i went to feed him today and i noticed he wasn't as colorful as usual...and wasn't swimming around like usual, just sitting in one stop and not moving much. He won't eat! I clean the water regularly too. About 6 or so months ago he had a big scare and i thought i was going to lose him then: what happened ? I had him in a little cup that i usually scoop him up in to change the water, i had a little too much water in the cup so i was trying to dump a little bit out while he was in there....the sink i was using didn't have a screen in it and he ended up going down the drain. So i started to freak because i love him and i felt horrible. My dad came in the bathroom with some tools and ended up getting the lil guy outta the drain, he was still alive and i ammediatly put him in some warm water...i spent hrs trying to revive him by rocking him back and forth in the water so he would get water in his gills, he was floating on his side so i was trying to keep him up right, i dunno, it seemed to work because he was back to him old self in a few days, he lost all his beautiful fins tho' but they have almost grown back to normal! I would just love someone's words of wisdom about this....What can i do too make him come around like he did the last time ? Sincerely...Jenna and (Blanche) I named him after my nannie...even tho it seems to be a ladies name!!! HELP...

I have a russian dwarf hamster who is about 1 year old. He has very over grown nails that are now curving. And I don't dare clip them myself! Please help me!
I have that same problem, and I've found a variety of responses on the internet: put sandpaper on their wheel for a while to wear them down (but not too long so their feet don't hurt), introduce some sort of rough wood or stone into the cage so that they can walk on it, or similar measures. If that doesn't work, I would call a vet and see if they trim small critter's nails. I also read someone's webpage where they put oatmeal on a spoon for their hamster to lick; this kept them occupied and still while they could grab the feet and clip the nails.
How's he doing now? I treated popeye (an incredibly bad case) with maracyn 2-- it is a yellow tablet (the
white one is maracyn).
Let me know if you have any dosage ??s
