2-29-08 I make my own with a quarter sheet (4.5 x3in.)of 18x12in. red construction paper. Then cut white construction paper into 3x1.5 in. The children glue one at the top, one at the bottom and one in the middle. Fold 18x12in. sheets of either red or white construction paper and cut 2in. strips so they will open to 18in. strips. staple or glue (white glue recomended if you glue) I prefer to staple (it is easier to get the size right for each child. ta-da!
If you are looking for a fun week this is it. Begin with a book share. children share favorite parts of their favorite seuss book. Get together with either an older or younger class and have your students do the reading or be read to. Make hats and on each stripe write the books you liked the best. Keep a daily journal of what you do as a class. THis is good PR for your classrooms with the parents. Game days focusing on what ever you are learning about but use seuss characters and story ideas to base the games around. Create stories about a combo animal. Combine two animals and make a story about this animal and illustrate a picture of this animal. These are funny and great for the kids to write about. Fishing game is fun. Make a fishing pole with tape or funtack on the end of a string (this works better than a magnet)Each fish has a word on it and they have to read the word and put it on the plate that has the rule that it follows. Read a different story each day and focus your activities around it. I like to use this time to reinforce what we have been working on and build writing skills. I hope these made you think and want to celebrate all week!r
I'm a grad student working on my certification and about to take the 7-12 English content exams. Can anyone on here recall when they took the tests what resources were helpful for them or does anyone have any useful tips for test day (aside from the basics like get enough sleep/breakfast/etc.)? I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this.

And, any strategies? I am a current teacher, provisionally licensed, with a couple of English degrees, but it's been a little while since college.
Any tips or words of advice??
Thanks!
