I am a 10th grade US History teacher who teaches in Philly, PA. My students are pretty low and not from America originally, I think this would be a great first week activity, as we start the semester. Let me know.

I teach middle school, but I've noticed that the large majority of activities and curriculum for Read Across America is geared towards elementary age students. Does anyone have any activity ideas for middle schoolers? Thanks!
3rd grade does Read across America and kids color a state for so much time reading. 4th grade does Read around the World in a similar way. Has anyone done read around ____(state)? Not sure how to color a state map. Counties seems boring. I live in Colorado.
