Hi, this is Phil Perry. I am an inspired for-impact organizer working from my family's summer camp, called Sanborn Western Camps, located in Colorado. I need your help to fill a not-for-profit travel program based in service and adventure. Using the incredible power of the internet, I am looking for the fifteen students who would benefit from the unique gift of travel, service and cultural exchange that our program to Argentina represents. Our program is based in micro-credit and social entrepreneurship.
The spirit of an Acción Adventures course combines cultural exchange, foreign language and positive people to create an international travel experience that lasts a lifetime. We concentrate on the indivdual's power to make a difference on a global level. Students take part in grass roots community development learning powerful leadership skills. Acción Adventures is more than just a summer youth travel program, it is a life-changing introduction to intern ational travel with a purpose for high school students age 15-19.
Traveling with a co-ed student group of fifteen students and two leaders, students take part in a five-week journey working with small businesses that need our help. At the same time, students will experience another culture, learn Spanish, and form bonds of friendship and family that can last a lifetime.
Acción Adventures believes in empowering both the developing world and our students. There is no better time than NOW to invest in their dreams by creating experiences that portray the world from a different perspective. Travel, wonder and service form an important journey that leads one to discover new horizons.

Please help me to fill this trip and support both our students' growth and the development of small businesses in South America.
I'm looking for participants for an online collaborative project. It's called "The Garbage Project" and it's an information exchange involving how much trash we throw away, perfect for a lesson about recycling and the environment. Here is an overview:
The goal of this educational project for students is to provide an opportunity to gather and analyze data in order to guide their understanding of the importance of responsible waste disposal. Using online student-collected data, they will discover how much garbage is produced by their household within a week's time. By collecting data in an online environment, students can share information about garbage generation and recycling habits with others from across the country and around the world. This collaboration will allow for greater learning by teaching students to work together to solve problems, increasing and promoting interdisciplinary study across the curriculum, and broadening their understanding and appreciation of different cultures and global environmental issues.
Please visit the project website for more information and to register ([link removed]!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope some of you will participate! Jen Scagnelli

Through my tears, I write to anyone that can help me and my daughter of 11. I am very sick. I don't know how long I will be here. But, God everything has just went down hill for the last year. My husband went for my daughter violently, I intervined. He broke all my ribs on the right side. Thank God she did not get hurt. He went to prison, but not before my daughter found him overdosed laying in his owm, well you know. So, he lost his job and off he went to prison. We got evicted because his money helped pay bills. So, I moved out of state, with my sister and her five teen boys. Her 18 year old boy Raped my daughter. I did not have much, I TOOK WHAT I COULD AND RAN TO HER. Only to have my daughter raped. I bought a 2005 car hoping to get out. Then I got real sick with P.A.D. AND A BLOODCLOT WENT TO MY KIDNEY. THEY CALLED IT A STROKE, AND I LOST MY KIDNEY. While in the hospital my sisters sons found my checkbook and went to town. When I got out three months later, I was 3 months behind on my car payment. They said they understood, since I filed a police report, and that they would work with me. I made two car payments this month! But I was still behind. They came tonight to take my car even though they said they would work with me. My sister insist she is going to keep my furniture. Her and her husband make 80k a year. I used to make 60k a year, not bad for a single mother, before the abusive marriage. I had it all. NOW I have nothing. I MOVED when my daughter was raped with a friend in a trailer, who has a heart of gold. I have never lived in a trailer. But, we have a place to sleep, safely. Now I have nothing maybe 50 cents to my name. I feel like a total failure. I need to get to the doctor once a week and go to my daughters school 20 miles round trip. I know I CAN START OVER. But I, am on disability of $900.00 a month. God I need help. I need a car. Any car, I have learned to be very humble and thankful for anything. A bed is wonderful. keeping my daughter safe is wonderful. We need help. IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME GET A CAR. I CAN MAKE SMALL PAYMENTS. PLEASE IN JESUS'S NAME HELP US. I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD ASK FOR A THING FROM ANYONE. NOW I, AM ASKING AND THROUGH MY TEARS FOR HELP. WE HAVE NO HOME, JUST STAYING WITH A KIND, KIND LADY. PLEASE ANYTHING THAT CAN KEEP ME GOING TO THE DOCTOR AND BEING APART OF HER LIFE, LIKE THE OTHER KIDS MOM'S. THANK YOU FOR READING. YOU CAN REACH ME AT [email removed]

Malea-
Are you still in Tulsa, Ok? I've tried to find you for the past year. What is going on?
My name is Becky Mallatt and I am from Oregon. I am organzing a 50 state quilt block exchange and I have all but 10 of the states ready to go. These are the remaining 10 states that I still need: DE, HI, IA, KS, ME, MT, ND, NM, VT, WV. It will be totally free for you to join us, because the grant pays for everything. If you would like to join or know someone else from one of these states who would, PLEASE reply ASAP. thanks so much and have a great day!
I received a "Kids in Need" grant for a "50 State Quilt Square Exchange." Here's how the project will work: I will get one teacher from each of the 50 states to agree to make 50 identical PAPER quilt squares to represent their state. They should be 6" square, done TLC-style (cut/glued paper). For instance, we made a beaver on ours because Oregon is "The Beaver State." Washington could be a pine tree design it's "The Evergreen State" and Florida could be a big sun because it's "The Sunshine State." You will also need to have a written piece, also 6" square, to go with each square (simple, kid- friendly, short and simple, writing pieces). They can all be the same. I am planning to do an interactive piece with my whole class.
My grant will pay for you to mail me your completed squares and writing. I will then redistribute your 50 squares into files for each state, so that after I have gotten everything, I will have a file for each state with all 50 states' quilt squares and writing pieces. I will then send that file back to you. THEN you can either make them into a 50-states quilt piece that you can display in your school, OR maybe make it into a book - this part is up to you.
If you are interested, please email me ASAP to my school email, rmallattbend.k12.or.us, or home email, [email removed]:
Your name & State Grade School School address Email
I will confirm with you and will then send you detailed instructions. Please respond ASAP as we need to get this project going as quickly as we can.
I will be teaching high school World History class to Native Americans next year. I'm wanting to do lots of hands on projects, so I'm looking for ideas. In particular, I'm wanting to focus on the concept of "civilization" and what it takes to create a civilization. I'm looking for a way to have a "Survivor" type project going on in my classroom between groups of students, where their planning and productivity in certain aspects of "civilized life" determine the success of their groups. Any ideas on how I could implement this? Has anyone actually heard of this kind of project?
I'm a family man in need of educational assistance through educational grants if it's at all possible. I have some college under my belt, but the school in this area that I've moved to does not accept my credits and I want so bad to become a teacher. Why? I've tried to do a great many things, but the one constant is that I've been a teacher all along. I'm always learning new things and I share my knowledge with anyone who will listen. Is there anyone out there that understands this? Please, contact me with any help or advice that you may have. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I'm still willing to send out information for the Aranea project. Please post here if you email me and don't hear from me. I'm afraid some of the emails have been going in my junkmail. Please send your school address, and I'll pop the materials in the mail. I'll send materials that will enable your class to begin their own Aranea project. You can read about what the project is at:

Here's a tip. Try sending your Aranea, Flat Stanley, or whatever to the Sacramento Rivercats baseball team. They're awesome. He has a whole template set up just for Aranea.
