Hello, I'm an English teacher from Turkey. I teach in a high school and my students are 16 years old. I have only six students. We are looking for pen friends who will write in English. If you are an English teacher, please contact me.

I am the SLMS in a 4-6 Intermediate school in NY. One of my 4th grade teachers is interested in participating in the Great Mail Race. If you would like to help her out please contact me. Thanks.

Here's one...I wrote it following another teacher's model:
Dear Grade 4 Teacher,
Our class is participating in “The Great Canadian Mail Race” in which letters are exchanged between Grade 4 students across our country. We received a letter from a student in a Grade 4 class in ...., ON, that had received a letter from ..., BC. They received a letter from Aylmer, ON, who received a letter from Dartmouth, NS, who received a letter from Calgary, AB, who received a letter from Rosemary, AB, who received a letter from St- Foy, PQ…and now a student from our class is writing to your class with the hope that your students will reply.
This is how the Great Canadian Mail Race works: 1. Read my student’s letter to your class. 2. Have one of your students respond to my student by sending a letter back to us. 3. Ask all of you students to choose a different town or city in Canada, and send a letter to other Grade 4 students. We used the atlas to find towns, and the internet to get school addresses. 4. Enclose an explanatory letter like this one with each of your student’s letters. 5. The student who receives the quickest reply is the winner of the race in your school.
Hopefully, your class will enjoy having the chance to write and send letters. Many of my students had never sent an ‘old- fashioned’ letter through the mail. It’s great opportunity to learn about other kids and other places in Canada.
We connected this activity to our work in Social Studies and, of course, letter-writing. The students practised their peer-editing and proofreading skills, so there are certainly some errors in their writing. Most of my students speak a language other than English as their first language.
Perhaps you won’t have time to participate in the full race activity, but I hope that you’ll be able to at least have one student respond to the letter from our class.

I know many teachers within teachers.net have already joined in our No Place Like Home Travel Buddy Project, but we still need just two more classrooms to host buddies March 12-April 13 (we prefer 4th-6th grade classes who study the American Regions). The classes need to be from MT, CO, UT, ID, or WY as the project's focus is on the Mountain States during that period of time.
You have your buddy choice of Cowardly Lion or Tin Man. Both of these critters have already visited many classrooms and are ready to pack up and head west to your classroom with Kansas gifts for you and your students in a couple of weeks.
You can read all about their adventures and get a better idea of what is expected at the project website located here:
Hope to hear from you soon.

During this long cold winter I have been thinking about an idea to engergize myself and my program...It will be about looking for signs of spring where you live..if you would like email me and I will give you all the info...it will be great to learn more about different places around the world and what signs of spring they find! * We did a Drive In Movie with Popcorn- Each child made a car out of a box. We had Barbie Cars, Princess Cars, Semi Trucks, Dukes of Hazzard car, Ice Cream Truck, Pizza Delivery. It was so much fun. Parents (especially Dads) enjoyed this fun activity. We chose a child safe movie and just added the popcorn for fun.
you could also try having the children create their own faces using different types of food using frosting as a base . You will need styrofoam boards for each child or something real strong and spray outside with sealant outside after the children have left for the day. I use different foods like ketchup, mustard, cimmonmin, chocolate syrup, etc for the children to mix the shade of their skin and use bread and m&m's for the eyes.
It was a lot of fun when I did it and the children love it -- it just takes a loy of prep ahead of time!

As teachers we are always looking for real-world connections to add significance to what we are teaching our students. This project is a great way to take a simple shopping trip and make several key mathematical observances. As a MINIMUM, anyone who could provide data for the item prices would be gratefully appreciated. There are directions, details, and examples of many applications for this project on the linked website. Feel free to contact me with any questions or information. Thanks, Steven
I am teaching an english class to 9 six graders in a small town in Spain. They are very excited about the possibility of creating life long friendships with english speaking peers through letters.

We are going to do an investigation about weather, locations, and butterflies. We will take several walks at the same time of day and make recordings about our observations. It would be wonderful if anyone else is doing a study of butterflies to add their info to this project as well! To post your info. click on the tab at the top of the page that says "edit this page". IF you have any questions or comments please email me. Thanks!
It's Flat Stanley time again! Flat Stanley is the name of a book written by Jeff Brown. In the book Stanley is flattened in his bed one night when a bulletin board falls on him. Don't worry, he's fine! Our project: during the school year we've written in our Flat Person journals and now we'd like to mail our journals to other classes in the hopes that they'll tell us what their school and community is like. Anyone interested?
have you found where you can order daily oral science? do
