I am a graduate student at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. I am conducting research for my master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in math. Specifically, I created a survey regarding the role of virtual manipulatives in today's mathematics classroom. I am in the process of distributing this survey to as many mathematics teachers as possible. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Below is a direct link to the survey:

PLEASE forward this e-mail on to any teachers you know who are currently teaching mathematics-- elementary, middle, or high school. With your help, I hope to receive results from all over the country.
Any help you can provide in publicizing this survey is greatly appreciated.
I will be relocating to Anchorage due to my husband's change in jobs. What are the prospects of finding a job in Anchorage or surrounding districts? Do they have an abundance of teachers trying to find jobs? Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to give me some insight.
Getting a job in Anchorage is a lot easier than it used to be. If there is a job fair in your area, I would highly recommend attending it. Check out the website for further info. There are also other links about getting your Alaska certification. You will want to make sure you are "highly qualified" before you come here.
MatSu is a much smaller district (about 800 teachers, compared to 2800 at ASD). Currently they have a higher pay scale and better health benefits than Anchorage. Housing costs out there are lower too. I think it will be pretty competitive to get a job there next year.
i went to a job fair in Portland and interviewd with Anchorage. I was offered a position within the week, but by then I had decided to move to Juneau instead. It is much harder to find work there.

Do your enrollment forms ask for race? Are the racial breakdowns for every school available on your internet? Do your state tests break down results by race? Some of us who have taught in other states have never seen this before. Thanks!

I have been a teacher in National City, CA for the past 8 years. My spouse is going to graduate school in Alaska (Palmer/Anchorage area) and I'd like to go up, as well. My school district is open to the concept of trading teachers for a year. If you are interested, let me know. I currently have a 4/5 GATE Combination class...but there's some flexibility with your desired position. We use Houghton-Mifflin for Language Arts, have received district-wide awards for technology use and other program innovation. It's a small district only 10 schools K-6. We have Pre-School for All. Check out our district web site. I am currently on the Anchorage School District's Eligible to Hire list, having passed the initial screening interview.
I have my MS in Educational Technology and have taught grades K and 2 primarily, though have had one year with a 2/3 combo and this year I have a 4/5 GATE Combo.
If this sounds interesting, let me know...we can talk it over!
