Hi! I am a second grade teacher in FL. I am wanting to travel to Alaska this summer. I was wondering if anyone has some advice on how to get a great summer job there in the tourism industry. Any advice would be so welcome! Thank you so much! I hope to hear from someone! :o) Lucy
Hey! My name is Heather and I am a junior at Columbia College in Columbia, SC. I am studying to be an elemetary teacher. This semester I am in a reading stratagies class and have been asked by my professor to correspond with a teacher outside of South Carolina to discuss how other teachers in other states approach reading. If anyone is intrested in corresponding with me please email me at [email removed]!
Hello, I am looking for a teacher, who goes by the name of either Spruce Margaret Lynch, or perhaps you know her as Margaret Lynch. She lives in Alaska, has been in Anchorage, Danger Bay, and Barrow.
I am looking for her for a school group reunion of an operation called H-I-T-V, a school television station that she was a part of when she was a student at Hamburg High School, Hamburg, New York. If you know of here whereabouts of either a telephone number or email address, where she can be found, please relay to her my email address.
I am curious as to how hard it would be for an outsider to move to Alaska and get a teaching job. Myself I would be happy with a good job that could pay the monthly bills as I have no plans on getting rich. But my wife is a teacher with 3 years of experience. She has a Bachelors Degree in Early Ed./Special Ed. A certification to teach K-6 and her Masters Degree in Gifted Education. How hard would it be for her to find a job teaching? We are really interested in areas around Anchorage or the Kenai Peninsula area. Or somplace in some of the outling areas. Thanks for any information you can pass our way. I really appreciate it.

go to the Anchorage School district's website and follow the links for employment information. I'm pretty sure we're going to vote to accept the new contract, too.
I have being research on Alaska and am giving serious thought to relocating if I could find a decent teaching job there. Of everything that I have read, the one thing that concerns me the most is the prolonged darkness. I would be relocating alone so moving out to the bush is not a viable option...so Anchorage would likely be my best bet. Are there any areas with some population and some sunlight....Juneau??? Thanks..

Good luck.
Dear "other" AK teacher,
I've been posting as AK teacher here and on the main board for a couple of years. I don't post that often but if you scroll down on this board (because it moves so slowly) you'll see that I've been here. Please find another name so people don't mix us up!

Good luck to all student filmmakers and film instructors of course! This is a great way to put your school on the map. Attached is a copy of the submission form.

I have just completed my flight reservations for Anchorage from Savannah, Georgia. I would like to know if you will recommend a few places that I must see while in town. I am somewhat overwhelmed by the brochures that I've collected.
This will be my first visit at the end of July- August.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. There so many things to do. I will probably not rent a car. I want to see the glaciers for sure. I am flying and hoping to stay on the University Campus. I will be attending the conference on August 8, and 9.
I am sure to take the Denali Tour, my living arrangements are set for the summer. I want to make the most of my time and money. There might be a situation where I need advice on lodging for Denali, I hear that it is expensive. I am really not into camping.
Thank you again for all of your helpful comments. Linda
