So me and my girlfriend, soon to be wife, are thinking about coming up and teaching in alaska. Is it true that our student loans will be paid off for us?
Wondering if people are flocking to Anchorage to teach science. I am relocating to Anchorage, passed screening, talked with district personnel who indicated that there are plenty of positions, only to find out after interviewing, that there is currently a science teacher hiring freeze.
Does anyone know anything about this? Is it that difficult for someone with a MSE, 2BS and is HQ to find a job up there?
Hello,I am a teacher in NC. I am organizing a postcard exchange for this fall. This is a simple project, offered to classes across the nation. Your class commits to exchanging picture postcards (purchased, computer or handmade) with all other participants. This "Class to Class" exchange is appropriate for all ages. If you would like to represent your state please visit the link below. [link removed]
Hi all! I am looking for a teacher from Alaska to participate in a elementary postcard exchange for 2008- 2009. If you teach K-5 and would be willing to be the representative for Alaska, please email me at [email removed].
For this exchange, we will all send a postcard to the other 49 state participants during the school year that contains a real-life (not kid-drawn) picture of their state (or a feature of the state) and some fun facts for the students to learn. (I saw vistaprint.com had some good deals on state postcards bought in bulk). Once I gather all the state participants, I'll forward the addresses of everyone before school starts (in label format so you can peel and stick). In this email I will let everyone know what month they are to send their cards out. This way we get them throughout the year. I will also try my best to send a friendly reminder at the beginning and end of the month for those who are to send out to help remind everyone.
Please email me with the following information so I can mark you down as the participant for your state.
Your name (with appropriate abbr. Miss, Ms., Mrs., Mr.) Your school name Your school address Your grade level
If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me!
I had to let my fellow teachers out there know about this band called Rockin' The Standards. This is the coolest educational music I've ever heard. My students love their music. I highly recommend their CD "Math" to anyone who deals with 2nd through 6th graders. Enjoy!
I would play this cd on repeat when I was really mad at my class for not doing their homework or bombing a test. And I would get away with it because I would say it was academic in content.
I'm looking to add Alaska to a postcard exchange that I started. Any grade is welcome! I am collecting one per state so it is a first come first serve.
Once I have a representative from each state I will be sending info out or August which ever happens first!

Only 1 elementary classroom from each state will be represented & it's on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. Email me immediately ([email removed]!
Once I add you to my state list and close that state, I will send you a confirmation email (Yippee) that you've made it in!
When all 50 states are represented I will compose a mailing list and email it to you. I will create the state list in a label ready format for you to just print out!
You will be mailing 49 postcards(ask for postcard & postage donations from PTA/PTO, parents, grants, etc.)
Postcards should start to be be mailed out in September. All postcards should be postmarked by Friday, December 19, 2008. This works out to be about 3-4 postcards per week which is definatly managable.
If your interested, and serious about following through, please email me:
Your name Grade Level school name school address
*(Also let me know if you'd like to be in this exchange annually or not. This way we can secure a base of states fo the following school year!)
I will let you know if you've made it into this exchange.
Come join in on the fun and endless teaching opportunities that await you AND your students!
