Alaska Delaware Idaho New Mexico North Dakota Rhode Island South Dakota Vermont (and Washington DC if I can find you!)
Quick Rules (I'll be emailing everyone specifics): *Each postcard has 2 state facts and then 1 fun fact (can be about anything from your class to your town..anything.)
*Postcards should be store bought
*You'll send out 5 cards a week starting mid-late September (you can put the same three facts on each card to make it easy)...that way you should have all 50 postcards by the beginning of December. There is an order to the five states...you'll see who you send yours out to once I send the final addresses email.
*With the addresses, I am sending an attachment of the letter I will be sending home to parents. You can personalize it to fit your class! :)
*Have more questions? Email me! [email removed]
Everyone involved is very excited and I know the kiddos are going to love this. I hope you're one of the missing states!
Anyone in Alaska interested in being e-mail pals with my class of second graders in St. Louis, Missouri? ( I have two colleagues who also teach second grade that would be interested if you do, too!) We could exchange every month or so. Also, we could do a video conference if you have hook up . . .
You'll want to look at the Anchorage School District site instead of DOE if you're thinking Anchorage. Each district handles it differently. Seems like there's always a shortage of good subs but the pay is lousy. $120/day at the beginning of the year until you sub 20 days and then it goes up to $140. Long-term subs need certification and are paid more and maybe even get benefits (not sure).
I am putting together a 50 postcard exchange! I am collecting address of interested teachers- 1 from each state. I am desperately in need of Alaska! For our exchange, each class is required to send a postcard from their state to each of the other classes. If all goes as planned, you should receive 50 postcards- 1 from each other state in return. This is a great way to teacher about the US and makes a really fun bulletin board! If you are interest, please email me at [email removed]:

I have been talking about teaching in Alaska for several years. I have 6 years of experience and am certified in Math and English with a good track record. What are my chances of finding a position there? I am an older woman but I am willing to work anywhere in the state.

With Math, you can go about anywhere! Go to the Anchorage Job Fair in April or the ATP (Alaska Teacher Placement) for online listings. Job openings are posted and specific job fair dates also.
I am organizing a POSTCARD EXCHANGE for the upcoming school year 2009-2010. I would like it very much to have successful turnout of all the states (provinces and territories are welcome!). My classes and I have enjoyed this experience tremendously over the years.
This project works well when all participants hold up to their promise. I would like one participant from each of the 50 states and DC. In addition, anybody who teaches in Canada feel free to join just inquire!
This will be on a first come, first serve. I will have all info ready mid to late September and email every so often with updates.
If you are interested and willing to make the commitment, please provide the following information:
