Hi! We are moving to the Kenai area soon, and I'm looking for information on the different schools in the Kenai to Sterling areas. I want to make sure that we settle in an area with good, solid schools and extra cirricular activities (sports programs, music etc.) . Any suggestions? She will be in 1st grade, but I am also looking to the future, as it's likely that we'll stay through her high school years.

I prefer Soldotna High School at this point. Education here is going through a budget crunch and programs are being cut at all levels. Good luck!
We are Australia's first and only online directory where teachers wishing to organise a teaching exchange or holiday swap can register their details. Each exchange or holiday swap is displayed as a mini "web page" complete with photo albums and relevant information. You can spend hours reading the different profiles, viewing photos and visiting links to teacher exchange and holiday swap locations all over the world.
Does Alaska help pay back student loans? Does Alaska have a need for minority teachers? Does Alaska offer any incentives for teaching there? WHat is the pay for holding a Master's Degree?
We are a new postcard exchange, and we need a kinder, first, or second grade class from Alaska to participate. You will need to purchase 50-55 postcards to mail to all of the other states (and maybe a few to Canada). I am compiling all of the information, and will send all of the addresses out as soon as all of the "spots" are filled. In return, you will receive a postcard from every state, all throughout the year. This is a very exciting project! Please join us!
We are still looking for a class from AK to be part of our postcard exchange. If you are interested, please email me. We would love to have your state represented.
The USA Postcard Exchange is an easy project for your class to participate in. The kids learn U.S. Geography and have fun at the same time. Each class will send out postcards to all the participating classes at a designated time. If we have 100% participation, your class will receive a postcard from all 50 states. This is the second year I have organized it, and we did pretty well with our 2002-03 project.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED: To make this project successful, we need ONE classroom from each state.
HOW IT WORKS: If you choose to participate, you would need to get 50 stamps and picture postcards with pictures that represent your state. Then, write and mail them out some time between September and Thanksgiving. Your class will then generate together a note that tell how your state is unique. For example, the message may include information about your state, including landmarks, history, state symbols, etc. This is a one time mailing. I will supply the format for mailing labels wth the correct classroom addresses so you can conveniently attach them to the postcards.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me.
Donna, I will do this. We're already doing it for one other post card exchange, but I'm sure they kids would love to do it twice.
