I'm not aware of subject-specific bonuses. Most bonuses are district-wide and offered to entice new teachers (and leave veteran teachers wishing they'd moved to a new district for the new-teacher bonus). Given the high level of turnover in rural Alaska, it's pretty easy to get hired regardless of your degree. Especially if you do your homework ahead of time and acquire an Alaskan teaching certificate; basically, an Alaska studies and a Multi- cultural class, both available online through the University of Alaska. The Alaskan teacher fair is every third weekend in April; show up with a pulse and an Alaskan teaching certificate and you'll have a contract before the day is out.

Finishing that contract is another matter.
