I have a child that just entered K and another entering preschool. With all the emphasis on teaching K's to read and what they MUST know coming in, it's put a lot of weight on making sure 4 year old's attend preschool.

We were told that the school district was looking into creating a preschool inside the elementary school. We were also told that this is something the entire State of Alaska was pursing.

Is there anyone throughout the State of Alaska that has more information on this or has a school that already does preschool?

I know they can't mandate preschool, however, there's this push to make sure 4 year olds are getting the fundamentals because a lot of the K's are struggling with what is now required.

Im interested in hearing more from ALASKA, Thanks, Sara in Nome, AK
