I am looking for a music teaching position. I am interested in teaching any age group. I have a degree in Music and am currently seeking a position that will allow me to work and earn ABC Level Approach Certification. I have worked as a subsititute music teacher and I am willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Please contact me if you are looking for a good, loyal, trustworthy applicant and employee. M. Hi, Okay, so I went on an interview almost two weeks ago. It took me one month after applying to even get the interview. I hear that the job is still available. Does anyone know why it takes so long to get back regarding positions? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this common place here in Alabama?
Hi George, Well, the principal called me and wants me to long term sub until like January. I took your advice and accepted. I am hoping it will lead to a permanen spot for the next school year. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Congrats Nala! Make an effort to be friendly, non-opinionated, and politically correct under the present circumstances as a substitute teacher. Learn quickly who really runs the asylum. It ain’t the principal, assistant principal, or any of the other flunkies in administration. It is a set of local teachers, the inner circle, who have mostly been teaching there since Moses was a rabbinical student, who call all the shots, especially the hiring and firing of new talent. Gradually infiltrate their ranks as a non-threatening, pleasantly agreeable sort, who on the surface appears malleable, and you will gain your FT teaching spot. It is always laudable and commendable when a new teacher is an effective instructor, and I believe you are, Nala; however, instructor competency may have little to do with tenure, ability is often a superficial prerequisite at best, but your acceptance by this inner circle into their inner sanctum is the key to what you wish. Once you get tenure, you can do as you desire without fear of effectual, negative ramifications.
Once again, congratulations, and if you hear of a good spot for a modestly-speaking, talented ESL teacher, let me know. :))
Longwindedly yours, George Cornwallis
PS: Others may vehemently disagree with my comments and tactics, so be it... Buena Suerta!

A private Islamic school in Huntsville will need a certified teacher to begin in December, but might be able to begin earlier. The pay is low (?low 20s?) but if you are in the situation of waiting for AL certification or the next school year hiring, this could be a good opportunity for you. They will accept a teacher certified in any state. Religious studies are handled by another teacher. I taught there for five years and it was my best teaching experience to date. There are other non-Muslim teachers there that you could ask about how it is working there. Email your resume if you are interested.
I forgot to say that the school is a preK -6th grade. The position is for a 3rd/4th multiage class with fewer than 10 students.

For those of you looking for music resources on the Internet please try my page and tell me what you think . I also am working on getting several pieces of equipment for my classroom that the kids will be using to make the webpage even better. One of the way I am raising funds, is by submitting grants to two websites that allow you to contribute any amount you would like to the project. The websites are Adopt-a-Classroom and Donor's Choose - any and all donations are appreciated. The address is [link removed]
We are looking for a class to partner with for a project. Our school is a New Technology High School based on doing Project Based Learning with a 1 to 1 ration of students to computers. We team teach English 10 and Civics/Economics. The project is to design to have the student to create a mall. I will teach a variety of Economics terms and concepts along with many other concepts. I would like to have a partner school that would judge our presentations by video conference. We would in return evaluated their presentation by video conference on the same project. Please help! I have completed all test required for mathematics teacher (7 -12) i.e praxis; APTTP Reading; math; writing one time and got all score required, except the writing portion. I've since repeated twice, and both resulted the same score of 2. I don't know what I am doing that makes this to happen. The other problem is that, there is no sample audio that one could listen and practice. I will appreciate if one can give me an advice about the writing portion and where I can get an audio.
Osman, I have examined your submission below a few times. I'm afraid that you may not be passing the written portion of the test based on grammar skills. Although it's not horrible, if you are making similar mistakes on the test, this could result in a failing score. Some examples of mistakes in your writing include: *completed all test required *for mathematics teacher *got all score required *repeated twice *makes this to happen *one could listen and *if one can give
Could you have someone close to you record several short messages similar to the ones on the test? Only listen to it twice, similating the actual testing procedures. Then have someone with impeccable grammar skills check it for grammar first, then compare it to the message itself for accuracy. While listening to the tape, learn to take notes using very quick, short abbreviations for certain words. Then rewrite the passage correctly on the test. If you have any spare time, go back and correct or add to anything that you had not previously finished. Just try to mimic the test as best you can. Good luck. Don't give up!

Kevin I am getting ready to take the test in May and am worried about the writing section. I am not a very good writer, and it's been almost 19 years since I have had any math. Can you tell me if the written part is technical writing? business? Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated. I am looking for an experienced teacher for K-1 for a tiny privarte school in Hunrtsville. If interested please email me resume or email me a note of your interest and we can chat. You don't need to sit home all winter as some say they are doing because their papers, certifications, etc, are not in order. I am in need of a great teacher. Interested? Need someone experienced and ready to start!

I AM STILL LOOKING. THE PAY IS GOOD AND THE WORKING CONDITIONS ARE GREAT!! THE SCHOOL IS VERY SMALL WITH A SMALL GROUP OF K-1 STUDENTS AND THE PROGRAM IS INDIVIDUALIZED AND PROGRESSIVE. I PREFER SOMEONE WHO HAS TAUGHT AND KNOWS STANDARD PROTOCOL. PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. THE HOURS ARE NEGOTIABLE. THIS IS A GREAT JOB FOR THE RIGHT PERSON. WOULD LOVE A RESPONSIBLE SELF-STARTER! PRINCIPAL
Hi all, I'll appreciate if some one can explain me what actually alternative approach is and how can one get an employer to sponsor you. What if you are interested in more than one teaching field e.g MATH and English(middle school). Are u required to get a Fifth yr non traditional Masters for both the subjects?
Sad this board is so negative. Sad that qualified teachers are having such a hard time getting a job, and if this board is used as a measure, it seems to be state wide. I moved here 19 years ago from Georgia. That was of course before the days of NCLB and highly qualified so I did not have such a hard time. Also I was special ed and that seems to be an easier area. Is there anything nice to say about teaching or trying to teach in Alabma? Anyone out there have a good experience at all? In anyway? Bo
Alabama (atleast in the county in which I live) has made it practically impossible to hire transfers from other states. It's sad for me after so many years of teaching to be sitting at home for the first time in my life. I interviewed with a personnel director last week for a sub position. He told me that he could hire a person with a math degree that has not the first clue how to teach. They would give that person 3 years to complete anything that they needed, but they could not hire me after 16 years of teaching experience. What's really frustrating is that I'm highly qualified in NC, SC, and OK. I would have loved to teach in Alabama, but it does not look good for me. ALabama is missing out on many good teachers that are in the same predicament as me.

Go to the GA boards. They are way more interesting. A lot of drams in GA!!
