HELP! I moved here 5 months ago from NJ. I am 48 years old. I have 16 years experience with grades 3,4,5,& 6. I was Teacher of the Year 3 times! I have my Masters Degree in Education. PLEASE...SOMEBODY...HIRE ME!! I have stellar references! YOU WON'T BE SORRY! Thank you, Wendy Cunningham
Thanks, Julia. That's a great idea, but I would need health insurance. I wish we had universal healthcare!! I probably will end up subbing, if something doesn't come along. Like you say, I'll get to know the principals. Thank you for the advice! Wendy
Thank you so much for your reply. ("You can go to any book store and buy a book with a study guide. I used one when I took my Spanish test. Other than that people can't share what is on the test.") I really appreciate it. Of course we all know that we can go to a bookstore, library, and even to a school and study a book, but we always need a little bit more to help one another. I have to say that I disagree with you about sharing what's on a test. Fortunately, when I located this website a few people were willing to share with everyone what exactly was on the Praxis II Exam for my particular subject matter and I am so grateful! :) Many of us have passed thanks to someone willing to help us out. We're not cheating. We're providing others with topics and questions that are on the test as well as what study guides to use so that we ourselves can pass and help others. I am really trying to help someone else in their field have the same kind of help I had, but I think that this Praxis II Exam for Social Studies Content Knowledge may have so many questions and topics that are being covered, that they just can't remember what's on it. Thanks again for your help. I hope that you did really well on your Spanish Exam, but I'm sure that you probably would have done even better if you had someone give you a heads up on what was on the exam. :) Thanks again. > > > On 5/05/09, Monica Wilson wrote: >> Hi, everyone. Hello, We will be moving to Montgomery next year. ANyone out here work for Montgomery schools? How is it? Does the district and principals respect their teachers?
Would I be restricted to teaching "genera...See MoreStarting in August, I will be taking make-up science and education courses at UNA and working toward a Alternate-A certification in Secondary Ed. in General Science. Once all my credentials are in order (obtain certification, pass Praxis II in Gen. Sci.), what courses will I be able to teach in AL?
Would I be restricted to teaching "general science" type classes or can I teach chemistry and/or physics? Or must I pass those Praxis II tests as well?
Experienced teacher with great references having a hard time finding elementary job. At two interview, I have been told that they are looking for a specific personality to "match" other team members". Has anyone heard this, or do I need a personality make-over!?

REASON: IN MOST SCHOOLS, ESPECIALLY SMALL ONES, THERE IS AN INNER CIRCLE OF TEACHERS IN EACH WHO HAS BEEN WORKING IN THE SCHOOL FOR YEARS, THESE TEACHERS ARE USUALLY LOCALS WHO GOT THEIR JOBS THRU CONNECTIONS OR PATRONIZING BEHAVIOR,AND THIS INNER CIRCLE RUNS THE SHOW AND NOT THE PRINCIPAL OR SUPERINTENDENT. EITHER YOU FIT IN OR YOU ARE OUT. MANY SCHOOLS LOSE COMPETENT TEACHERS AFTER THE FIRST YEAR SIMPLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTED BY THE INNER CIRCLE AS ONE OF THEIR OWN.
WHEN YOU DO GET HIRED, WHICH YOU WILL, BE AWARE OF WHO THE TEACHERS IN THIS INNER CIRCLE ARE AND BE CORDIAL TO THEM BUT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRY AND FIT IN ... THEY MAKE THAT DECISION AND EFFORT.
GOOD LUCK!

E...See MoreThis survey concerns all teachers; novice and veteran.
Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. After all, if it does not currently concern you, it will eventually. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.
