I am looking for a classroom to Skype with my students to read a book. We kicked off Skype Across America on March 2nd which is Read Across America Day. We are trying to get one class from all 50 states to read to us. If you are interested and you haven't used Skype before it is very easy.
Wow. Have you read this article? This is one of the most biased, nonsensical, more-heat-than-light things I have read about teachers and teaching in a long time. Absolute nonsense and getting the smackdown it deserves from Mr. Teachbad: [link removed]
Second question: where are the easiest locations to get a teaching position in AL? My hometown is Gadsden, so I would prefer NE Alabama, but even when I graduated from college back in 1983, it was impossible. How are things now?

Can someone tell me when teacher contracts for the 2010- 2011 school year will be/were issued and when they need to be returned? Is there a statewide date? If not, St. Clair County? I am job hunting for a speech/language pathologist position and need to know when I should expect vacancies to be posted. Thank you!
On ...See MoreFill out applications and submit resumes to the school systems that you are interested in. It's close to the end of the year and teachers that are moving to another system or retiring will let the administrators know. When I started teaching I would see a contract at the end of October.I don't know when the contracts are presented now.

I am now postdrop of one and a half years, and I am 61. I will bring home 2,100.00 home after all deductions. I will get SS in Dec of 1,318.00. Don't know if I should retire before I get SS. However, if I wait until Dec. I won't get 3 extra summer checks. Don't know what to do. Any advice out there from anyone?
Good Luck! :-
