In September of 1957, John Wayne "Jack" Schlatter entered a classroom and walked into his Life. He faced thirty students and saw his future filled with gifts. By 1985, the gifts from teaching were so many that he wrote "I Am A Teacher." Jack's goal in writing this eloquent heartfelt Acknowledgment of a Teacher's Life was to awaken a nation to how much Appreciation we owe to those who have gone before and those who are here now. However, it has turned into a Love Letter to all those who have blessed not only his life, but Life Itself.
Here is a movie to educators everywhere, to let them know What A Difference They Make ... Please take 3 minutes to watch: [link removed]
For regular core subject area public school teachers, the pay is about average-30,000-50,000 per year---and depends on the amount of experience and education you have. Depending on the school you choose, though, you might end up dealing with some pretty rough students. If you are a secondary school teacher, do not choose Chastang Middle, Pillins Middle, Denton Middle, Scarborough Middle, or BC Reign High.
For teachers of electives, the pay is probably about the same for subject area teachers. Again, though, try to avoid problem schools. Maybe you should try Murphy High, Baker High, Le Flor Magnet, or Phillips Prep, assuming you are planning to teach secondary education.
If you teach PACE or Special Education, the pay is probably a little bit better, although I'm not really sure what Special Education teachers make. I'm not sure about the overall climate special education teachers face, either, but I'm assuming the workload is pretty hectic. Perhaps this district has a shortage of special education teachers, or something. I don't really know, but I'm assuming the work is very hard and takes a special person.
Mobile is in need of good teachers, though. Unfortunately, they aren't willing to pay more for them, I guess.

To my sisters and brothers in Alabama.......you are in my prayers. Even if you and your families are safe and well, you have tremendous challenges ahead.
Hi all, I am a primary teacher in FL. I would love to volunteer in Alabama in the wake of the disaster using some of my skills-- whether it be childcare, teaching, etc. Anyone know of any opportunities? Thanks!
I'm currently in the United States with the intention of contact with teachers who could be interested in making an educational project for the next academic course 2011-2012, so that science students from Malaga and USA could make a collaborative work and establish a rewarding relationship, using the new technologies.
I´ve already done a science project to enable our students to meet students from another country, while working together and improve their science skills.
If you are interested, I could sent you the project and we could change it, since it´s a flexible project.
I´d like to have the opportunity, also, to visit some schools in Usa to learn about the U.S. educational system, the methodologies used, the available resources ... Would appreciate someone gives me the opportunity to make a visit to your school.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about it.
