Are there any teaching or education-related jobs in the state of AL (in schools, businesses, or non-profits) where you work with children one-on-one or in small groups? If so, what is the position and where should I look? I really want to work with students one-on-one or in small groups.

I should have mentioned that I want to work during day hours so that evenings can be spent with my family.

I am teaching 4th grade in the fall and have looked at our school's Alabama History curriculum. Its actually a high school history curriculum. Any ideas on how I can adapt for 4th grade and make it interesting? Thanx!!!
has a booklet of professional development classes for teachers. most are a one day workshop. they also have a variety of classes they are offering. call 1-800-760-7517 and ask for Tammy. hope this helps
I teach 5th grade in Florida and I am trying to start a postcard exchange for my class. I am looking for a class that **promises** to participate. It is so fun and any grade can do it. I am accepting the first teacher from each state that emails me. It is super easy and fun!
All you have to do is request that each parent send in 2 stamped postcards that have your state name on it. Then when the due date comes, you have your students write facts about your state's climate, what it is famous for, etc. In return you will also get a postcard from each state. The kids LOVE getting the mail and you can do so much with it.
If interested, please email me at gator.[email removed]!
As with any school, it depends on the school you are assigned to. The best schools here are the ones with very strict administration. But, yes, Dothan City Schools is a good system. They will be undergoing major changes soon... especially in the middle and high school grades, however.

So what is the deal? The state has had my information for my license information for a very looooooonnnggg time, and I have started applying for jobs online at the department of education as the department of education suggested.....so far, I have heard NOTHING!!! NADA...not one interview I believe because I don't have my license back yet. Is this correct? What do I have to do to get a job here? In Florida, the county actually sent in my lisence transfer themselves. Here, ther has been so much paperwork, and it is taking forever. ....and no one is looking at my applications. What else can I do? Should I start going to the districts in person even though the websites say to apply online? Should I start calling principals? I am looking at driving to three or four different counties, and nobody is calling. :(
If you are interested in tutoring, please contact me as I am the owner of Tutoring One On One, with four offices in Madison County AL.

Hi, I am going to be teaching music, art, and movement to kindergartners next year. This will replace their specials. Is this done at anyone's school? If so do you have any ideas for me? Thanks so much.
For the first time EVER we are getting paid (w/raise)the end of Sept. Always before it was the end of Oct. Your system has the option. I think......lol
Maybe I am a month behind?? We could be getting the check the end of August? Anyway....Our system is paying us a month earlier than they have ever paid us. I am excited!!
Any teacher from the great state of Alabama interested in joining a postacrd exchange? It's a great way to get kids excited about learning!!! I'll be your best friend if you join.....ok, so maybe that only works in fourth grade but I would love to represent all 50 states this year. Email me in you are interested.
How difficult is it to find an elementary ed job in these 3 areas? It is so confusing having so many different central offices to deal with. You have city systems and county systems. Is it absolutely imperative that you have your certificate in hand before you have a chance of getting a job? My husband does not understand what I am going through looking for something here. I have 15.5 years of experience.
It is EXTREMELY difficult in Etowah County to get an elementary job. I have just moved to Etowah County with 16 years of experience. You MUST have your certificate and you MUST be Highly Qualified + you must have taken the ATPPT test (which you had to have taken before you receive your certificate.) I am from SC and an HQ there in Elem and in Middle School math. I have all but given up for the upcoming year. I have never had this much difficulty! Good luck with your search... Where do you live?
