My family and I are looking for a nice home base
hotel...not too fancy, just clean and not too far away
from the Exploreum, the forts, USS Alabama, etc.

Does anyone know if the Wingate Inn is nice? It has good
reviews.

Anything terrific that my children will love to do? They
are 12 (son) 9 (daughter)

How about going to a beach...suggestions? Restaurants?
What about safety.... are we safe in that part of town? Is
there a part we DON"T want to be in??

Thanks you guys! I know teachers are truly friends no
matter where we are!

The east bank of Mobile bay is more family vacation oriented
than "Mobile proper". Fairhope, Daphne, are two nice
friendly towns. Do not walk after dark in downtown Mobile,
or to your car alone.

to be an area built up around the Srpinghill mall out of town
a bit, now town has followed the mall out there. If you like
good seafood try the Oyster Shack on the Causeway. It is kid
friendly. Go to the beach on the eastern shore across the
