And what would be the reason(s) that there are so many jobs still open in Tuscaloosa schools?

Well Joe, I don't know. A guess would be a shortage of SPE teachers on all levels due to NCLB changes, displeasure with the "job description" of reading coach state wide, and shortage of secondary teachers particularly in math and science state wide. Also we are a university town and have a high turn over as professor and coaches wives teach in our system, husbands are transfered or leave and we lose the wives as teachers. Also we compete with a very popular "county" system for employees here in our area. Bo
