My husband got a promotion that will take us to Dothan, AL.
I have been trying to find out what is necessary to get
certified in Alabama, and all I have been getting is the
run around!

Is there really a teacher shortage or not? I hold a B.S. in
Computer Science with a minor in vocal music. I have been
enrolled in a Master of Arts in Teaching program at a local
college; but, because of the move I can't complete the ONE
class I lack to receive a full 5-year license!

A recruiter told me that I would be able to get certified
without a problem; however, the certification office has
told me that I can either start my Master's program over or
get hired by a district before I can get certified. Who
will hire me without AL certification? I also asked if they
would accept any online programs such as Western Governors
University. They said they do accept some programs, but
couldn't tell me which ones! How then,...See More

Good luck to you. I was in the same position. My husband was
transferred to Gadsden. I have 16 years of VERY successful
teaching experience. After teaching for 8 years in elem and
being highly qualified in elem in 2 diff states, AL does not
recognize my HQ status because I didn't take the Praxis test
