My husbands job is requiring us to relocate to the Mobile area. I am currently teaching preschool at a private school and have been doing so for nearly 14 years. I did some research and noticed public schools in Alabama start at Kindergarten. There is also not as many private schools there. We noticed that across the street from where we are looking to buy a house, there is a public school. Do you think there is any chance of them hiring me? If not for teacher, what about assistant position? Since we will not have any family, nor friends in the state to help us out, would they take that into consideration and also the fact that we will be living exactly across the street from the school? I heard that the school system there is strict and they place you/you can't choose where you want to be employed. Is this true? Your first hurdle in securing a teaching job in Alabama is obtaining an Alabama teaching certificate. Unless you are Nationally Board Certified, your certificate from Lousiana is not valid in Alabama.
