The Cabot school system is on the ball and has posted their Social Studies pacing guides online! No sense reinventing the wheel! You have their permission to snag these and make them your own. (A thank you to the Cabot Schools might be nice though!)
When you click on the link and get to the site, chose your grade level and it should give you a downloadable pdf file. Each are about 11 pages long. I just tried it and got in so it should work. Jack/AR
I am in the process of getting my Bachelors in Early Education degree while working full time. Does anyone where I can take an Arkansas History class online? I'm sure that there will be a lot of studying to do but I want to make it as easy as possible for me, as I have never taken an online course before. Thanks in advance!
Arkansas State University also offers an online Arkansas History course.

Crystal....sorry, it isn't a paid position but, when you are finished with your student teaching, it may turn into a real foot in the door for your first teaching assignment. Our school has gone on to hire many of the student teachers who have proven themselves to be good teachers and good with discipline.
I am looking to get into the NTLP...and I see where they take the last 60 hours if you have taken any classes after your Bachelor's was obtained. Does anyone know exactly how they do this? Do they just count backwards from the last classes taken until they get to 60..I just want to make sure. Also, is there anyone out they that is working at a job through a education co-op in this program? Thanks JT
Hi, I didn't know that they took the last 60 hours. What does that mean that they "take the last 60 hours"? I'll keep reading but I haven't seen that before. As you may have seen my post, I'm looking into the NTLP as well. I would love to hear what you've heard and what your thoughts are about the program. Thanks

There's a nontraditional licensure program. You have to hold a bachelor's already, and you pay for the program, which I think is under a 1,000. I haven't heard of any school districts paying for it, but some may. Or you can go through a MAT program, get student loans, teach in a high need content or region, and get part of your loans paid back.

I was told by the technology guy at our school that I am not allowed to bring in my own laptop and projector to the classroom. I was hoping to present some powerpoints in my art class. The tech guy would not give me any reasons why I could not bring my own. By the way, our school says they don't have money for projectors and working computers in every classroom. Does anyone know of any laws regarding this?
I am considering going through the NTLP in AR. First of all--what experiences and opinions do you have about this program? Is it worth it? Secondly--What praxis subject do I need to take if I want to teach elementary? I have a masters degree in counseling and a lot of experience working with kiddos, with BA in psychology. I'm about to register for the required literacy through Harding that has Saturday classes near where I live. What do you think? Any advice or other information is greatly appreciated.

I'm planning to relocate to Arkansas next summer and want to start researching what schools are good there. I am very familiar with finding out school performance labels in my current state, but am a bit overwhelmed by Arkansa's State website. Can anyone point me to a shortcut?
I went to the website, and cannot pull anything up?
