Happy Saturday! I am considering relocating to the NW Arkansas are to be closer to family. I currently hold a Florida cert in English 6 - 12. From what I've read on the state site, I can transfer my existing certifcate and will have to take an ARkansas History class.
What's the market like in the NW area? Since I am already certified and have passed my state test and have some experience in the classroom, will it be difficult to find a position? I'm looking specifically for grade 8, but am flexible.

I am also thinking of moving to Arkansas and possibly teaching at the secondary level. I have a Texas certificate in business 8-12 and English 6-12. And have been teaching adults at Westwood College for the last 3-1/2 years. What does it take to become certified in Arkansas? Thanks.
I have been looking at NW Ark. for a while and SP ED is the only offers I've gotten. (I am certified SP ED 1-12) Every time I visit, I find there is a glut of teachers because that is where everyone is moving to in Ark. Good luck!

Hello, Right now I'm getting my Certification and Masters in Education at the same time. I have a Bachelors in Art. I'm wondering how difficult it is going to be to find an Art Teaching position when I relocate to Arkansas. I really need some help! I would appreciate any advice given.
I am really disappointed to read these replies! We are considering relocating to NW Ark., where we have family, when I complete my masters but now I'm wondering if this would be a good idea. I do know that Ark. teachers are paid better than MO. teachers. D

You know, it depends how easy you need it to be. No, NW Arkansas doesn't have the shortage of teachers some areas do, but we see plenty of new teachers every year. Can you stand to sub for a while and get to know the people who hire? Could you tolerate working at something else for a semester while you work on your job search? If so, then you don't have to be discouraged. If ease of finding a job is your #1 priority, this is not your #1 best place, but it's a wonderful place to live. Sometimes things that are not that easy are still worth doing.
Anyone have any good ideas to help with Benchmark prep? I'm sure we all have ideas and could use fresh ones...I use questions on my smartboard for bellwork and go over them, but I want to expand myself. Anyone???
For those of you looking for music resources on the Internet please try my page and tell me what you think . I also am working on getting several pieces of equipment for my classroom that the kids will be using to make the webpage even better. One of the way I am raising funds, is by submitting grants to two websites that allow you to contribute any amount you would like to the project. The websites are Adopt-a-Classroom and Donor's Choose - any and all donations are appreciated. The address is [link removed]

I can't access this site at all on my Mac. I see the buttons, but nothing happens when I click on them. Otherwise, all I see is a blue page.
I am not an expert webpage designer, I am a music teacher that dabbles. As a result, my code is very sloppy and is a jigsaw puzzle of different Javascripts that have been assembled together as I needed them, but the entire thing was written on a PC, so that is what it works best with. Again, honestly, I would not know the first thing to going about getting it code friendly for Macs
Now, if you do not have javascript enabled on your browser, that may be the answer to why you are having problems. Another answer might be the version of the browser you are using. Some older browsers are really sensitive to sloppy code.
I do know that I was able to call up the page on my father's new Mac, so it also might have something to do with the age of your computer - the newer computers tend to take more user coding error into account and compensate for it.
One of my professors asked me to find out the name of a "famous art educator who came to Arkansas in the 90's to improve the program, was paid thousands of dollars a week, and was controversial" does this ring a bell with anyone. I need to find out the educators name. Thanks for anything, angela
I just got my results and have not passed my PLT for the 2nd time. What are they looking for? I'm going to register for the Nov test, but I'm giving them what I think they want, what am I missing? Any advice?
Can anyone direct me to the newest revisions to the Social Studies frameworks for Arkansas? I have looked on the ArkansasEd.org site and cannot find them. A trusted friend says they are there but I cannot find them! Help? Jack/AR
They were removed during the controversy. I expect they'll be reinstated. I have a copy saved. If you don't find a copy and you want it, I could email it to you.
