I'm a first-year 5th literacy teacher. My district does not use a reading textbook, and I am fine with that. Or at least I thought so...I have my frameworks but this is so overwhelming!! Special Ed 1:15

What does the 1:15 mean. There are two jobs in Rogers and they specify 1:15.

J.Crisman I means 1 teacher per 15 students. It will probably be a self-contained classroom working with significantly disabled students. That's what I do!

Vicki I also have a 1:15 job. My kids are mainly MR but they would be profound or even physically handicapped. You will never have more than 8 in the room at one time without an aide and even that depends on how severe the students are. Last year, the 1:15 class had 5 aults in the room at all times.
