I'm doing some research on behalf of Educate Online. I was wondering if you could provide a little more information. I'm interested to know what the minimum number of students are needed to provide a tutor at a district. Also, if you know which districts in Arkansas are approved for SES. And, finally, what the minimum number of hours is needed for SES students in your state.
Thank you for your time- I appreciate it!

I am wanting to start an adult education/GED program at my church and I would appreciate any resources anybody can help me with. How would I go about receiving state funds? I already have a nonprofit organization business license. What other steps do I need to take? Thank you!
The state of Arkansas regulates funding for approved GED programs. You need an LEA or a parent organization to funnel the funds through. As far as I know in AR that would be a public k-12 school or a university only. Literacy Councils also get funding but don't offer GED courses but instead offer tutoring and some ESL classes as other grants become available.
My advice to you is to try to just apply for some grants. A good one would be the Dollar General Store grant for literacy. You will have to have a lot of proof that you are offering valid training and that folks are successful in getting their GED. You will still have to have a certified center test them.
The GED test is changing soon and will come in alignment with the Common Core STandards and students will have to take the test on a computer including typing an essay. They also will have to start paying in the state of ARkansas.
An ARkansas resource is the [link removed].
Good luck,

If schools have student iPads or iPods, they should purchase these apps. Teachers should purchase them as another source to assist with science curriculum and to improve benchmark scores.
