Hello everyone,

I am looking into becoming a teacher in Arkansas. My folks
are getting older and live in NW Arkansas and its time I
came home.

I live currently in NY State and work for the DOD. I did
sub almost every day for an academic year (Fall 2005 to
Summer 2006). I am researching and writting my Masters
thesis currently (I hope to be done in May 08). I am
looking to teach Art/Drama/Social Studies/and even English
Lit. since I have 2 undergraduate and a graduate degree in
these areas.

I am looking at the NTLP program.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Helpful hints? Anyone willing to
hold my hand somewhat and guide me along toward this goal?

Thanks ever so much...Wayne

Wayne,

I'm in my 2nd year NTLP. It's crazy busy, but worth it.
Don't let what people say scare you. There are jobs out
there, they will hire NTLP candidates and you will be fine.
One word of advice, keep you documentation current and handy

Word of Warning:

Many schools in NW AR, especially the big 4, will only hire a
NTLP if it's the day before school starts and they have a last
minute opening. Competition is fierce for jobs up here, and a
lot of the admin have no interest in going through the NTLP
process if they don't have to.

WAYNE!!!! It's Josh W., what's up? Your email is no longer
functioning...

On topic though, look at independent schools, no ed. degree needed
they hire almost exclusively for content area.
