Also, the principals are given almost total power to treat you however they want with no consequences. And how the principals get their job is very shady a lot of times. A lot of the principals are the husband or wife of someone on the board or of the company/non-profit that is behind the charter.
They expect you to work like a dog and they have no gratitude for it. In general, avoid charter schools. You will have no rights, no tenure.
If you get a good principal and are well-treated, then buy some lottery tickets because you are a lucky individual

Hi Nikki, Has anyone replied to you yet? I am a Spec. Ed. teacher in NJ and have a variety of experience working with all ability levels from the mild to pretty severe! I also have a background in Art and have used art in the curriculum with my severe needs students, to strengthen communication, eye contact, listening skills, range of motion, etc.
I would be interested in hearing more about your son and situation.
eWhat is going on? Where is anyone who actually cares about teachers, be they novice or veteran? Aren't we supposed to care about ourselves? Where is the solidarity and all of that good stuff? Let us know what's going on. We are not alone.

All of my experience has been with a private school, which went bankrupt about 6 years ago. Since then, I have worked with young children (infants-preschoolers)
Since then I have completed a M.A. in Educational Psychology with a 3.8, the GPA offsets my previous GPA of 2.7, in Social Science.
With that all said and done, what is the viability of me obtaining a social studies teaching position with a M.A. in education but no experience?
Hi everyone. I just got a job teaching first grade in Colorado Springs. Since I'll be moving there this summer from Texas, I was curious to if kindergarten is mandatory? Thanks!

I am new to both Saxon math and Open Court reading in first grade. I would love to hear ideas from experienced users, especially anything that saves time, avoids pitfalls, and is fun! Thanks!
E...See MoreThis survey concerns all teachers; novice and veteran.
Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. After all, if it does not currently concern you, it will eventually. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.
