I am in my second year of Substitute teaching in one of the largest districts in CO. I am a career changer; got my Masters in Spec Ed and have an initial teaching license as a Sped Generalist. I am not necessarily looking to get on permanently with a school district anytime really soon; subbing is a good fit for my family right now. But I am confused and looking for guidance on what exactly I need to do to boost my initial license to the next degree of license. My understanding is that I need to go through an induction training program, but I need to be on FT with a district to do so. My understanding also is that I can't permanently stay at an initial license, but need to apply for a different kind. The most I want to work is PT, but am finding many districts don't pay for this training with their PT employees due to budget constraints. Just wondering if anyone has experience they can toss my way. Many thanks!
